Working moms who BF > 1 year
When did you stop pumping?
Did you just do morning/night/weekends?
Little man will be 1 next month. I'm okay going beyond a year but I'm really over scheduling my life around when he needs to nurse and definitely over pumping (long story short: I re-arranged my life to make it to 1 year so I'm mostly working from home and was only pumping once a day early in the a.m. - which he didn't drink most of the time).
Re: Working moms who BF > 1 year
So, DS is super small for his age and I was worried they would tell me he needed to be on BM after 1 year. Even though I had a ridiculous freezer stash, I pumped until he was 1. After that, we just went to morning, immediately after daycare and night nursing. I didn't wean completely until 16 months. Dropped after daycare first, then morning, evening was the last to go.
He had BM for day care most of that time as well. I think the pumped milk took us into July (he turned 1 at the end of April). We started giving him whole milk at home for dinner so when there was no more frozen he went to whole milk.
Thanks ering. We have a freezer full too, so I'm hoping we'll use that too, but after he turns 1, I'm not going to worry about replenishing it.
I'm also worried about returning to 8 hour days in the office alternating with some work at home days (when he'll be home too), but I guess my body will adjust (that's what everyone tells me).
I bf til a year but stopped pumping at around 10 months if I remember correctly. My supply took a huge dump and it really wasn't worth the effort.
Your body will def adjust but wean from the pump slowly - maybe drop 1 session every few days. I remember doing it super slow, it took me about 1 month. I was able to go all day at work without pumping but I was able to feed her morning/night then all day on weekends.
Congrats for making it so long! That's awesome!
LD - was only pumping once a day @ 4 a.m. with a rented hospital grade pump. Haven't been doing in the past few weeks because he's either been sleeping long or refusing to take milk via bottle or cup, so didn't see the point. The past 2 days when he slept through the night, I used my manual pump for like 5 minutes, just enough to make me more comfortable before going to the gym.
Obviously you know that I'm a month behind you but I dropped from 4 pumping sessions to 3 (1 after morning feeding, 2 at work, down from 3) at 9 months. Instead of doing 9, 12 and 3 at work, I bumped it to 10:30 and 4 and was uncomfortable that week but adjusted quickly. In a couple more weeks when Jack is 11 months, I'm going to reduce to 2 pump sessions (one in the morning and one at work) and then eventually drop both. I'm sure that will be the hardest on my boobs. I have enough stash to get my to 12 months and then I'll nurse in the morning/night until Jack or I decide to stop.
Since I know you don't pump often, I'm wondering what your are asking? How to drop nursing sessions during the day? I imagine it's the same thing. Can you give him some of your freezer stash to replace a day feeding so that your body can start adjusting?

Yes, pretty much that. And yes, can give him frozen milk.
Except that if I'm working from home during the day part of the week, I wouldn't be dropping every feeding every day and I wouldn't be pumping on the days I'm not home.
We went on vacation when Huntface was 9 months and that is when I realized how much I despised pumping. When I came back to work, I only pumped to make myself comfortable and I think I completely stopped at about 10 months.
As far as nursing goes I would nurse in the morning when I was on night shift and nurse before bed when I was on day shift, so by 11 months I was down to nursing him once a day. I think about two weeks before his birthday he bit the everlovin' shiit out of my nipple and I put up my white flag. I went cold turkey from there and he was weened from breast and bottle by his first birthday.
Ah, got it now. How many times do you nurse during the day? For example, on the weekends, Jack nurses 4 times in total - when he wakes up, before his two naps and once before bed. So eventually I'll be swapping out BM for WCM when he eats.
Do you have a target date for when you are planning to stop nursing during the day, meaning, how long your freezer stash will take you until you switch to WCM?
I think whatever you do, just do it gradually so you aren't uncomfortable and get blocked ducts.

Oh geez, sorry I thought you were pumping a lot more then that!
Dude, Jack bit me last night so hard that he drew blood and left teeth marks. It hurt so bad that I wanted to throw up. I was a tad gun-shy this morning but all was well.

Oh man, I am not looking forward to him having teeth. That's awful.

He nurses about 6 times a day. I don't have a timeline, though once he's 1, I want the freedom to go in for all day meetings, etc. without pumping. I'm honestly not sure how long the freezer stash will go since we've never given him bottles regularly; not sure how much he'll take in.
And the teeth thing - definitely more an issue when he starts to fall asleep.
