Vegas Hotel Recs

Hi Ladies, My DH and I are plannng a 3-night trip to Vegas over Christmas break. We've stayed at Mandalay Bay for a brief conference a few years ago, but really didn't have the time to venture to other places. This is our first vacation without our daughter, so I do want something nice and luxurious since I'm not sure when we'll get a chance to go again. I was looking at either the Encore at Wynn or the Venetian/Palazzo... Any suggestions? Thanls! Karen

Re: Vegas Hotel Recs

  • you can't go wrong at either of those places IMO.  Check out the 4Seasons and Mandarin Oriental as well.   Very luxurious, quiet, peaceful, etc.

  • We stayed at the Cosmopolitan this past summer, and it is gorgeous!!! Their rooms are pricey, but it is brand new, and their restaurant options inside the hotel are all wonderful.  There's a restaurant named after a cow (don't remember the name), but they have really good alcoholic milkshakes that are a must!

It was also very convenient since it is located in the middle of the strip.

  • I love the Flammingo.  It's location is prime (middle of the strip) and it's so affordable!!!  It was completely renovated about 10yrs ago and it's really nice.  I also like Paris, which is right next to the Flammingo.  You will pay quite a bit more for Paris or the Venitian, but they are both great locations with really good bars and food areas.

  • We stayed at Cosmo as well this summer and its amazing!  You can get a good deal if you search around for there and the rooms are amazing, comfy, and have balconies if you book one of those rooms and make sure it's facing the bellagio towers.  I spent hours just sitting out there to enjoy them in a different angle.  Loved them!  Bellagio was out 2nd choice and MGM grand had a display of their newly renovated rooms when we were there and they looked really nice as well!

  • I've stayed at all 3 of those hotels you're considering and I can tell you that Palazzo rocked my world, loved everything about it! Encore was pretty snazzy but didn't love it, and Venetian was nice but didn't quite cut it (I promise I didn't mean for that to rhyme, lol!).  We stayed at the Cosmo this past August and whoa, talk about glam and swag and gorgeousness all over.  And yes, you must get a suite with a balcony facing the Bellagio fountains, and if you can swing it, get a 1 bdrm suite with the Japanese soaker tub that has a window overlooking the strip/fountains...heaven!

Make sure to sign up on the hotel websites to get their special promos and deals emailed to you.  I get great deals for Palazzo/Venetian all the time.  Also, if you're interested in the Cosmo, they are a Marriott affiliated property so you can use and get points if you are a member.

  • I just got back from my second stay at Encore, and I really like it. However, if you're looking to explore Vegas it's probably not the best option because it's way at the north end of the Strip and you'd have a ways to walk to get anywhere. One of the more central hotels, like one of the City Center hotels or the Cosmopolitan, would probably be better.

  • We've been a few times and our favorite thus far has been Planet Hollywood - amazing views of the strip! We also liked where it was located {pretty central}, so you can venture to the right and see those hotels one day and the left the next without being too tired.

  • I love the Palazzo. Small casino which means it's not far to walk to the room elevators, all the rooms are suites, always had fast check-in (that is not always the case at some other properties in Vegas), and since it is connected to Venetian, you feel like you are getting two hotels in one.

I stayed at the Cosmo about eight months ago and absolutely loved it! Very swanky, fast check-in, great central location, and if you get the right room you will have great views of the Bellagio fountains. I went with my sister so we just got the basic City Room, but we had the most amazing view of the fountains.

I'll be staying at Aria in April, which will be too late for you :) But from the pictures on the website, it looks really nice as well. I walked through on my last trip and really liked the inside of Aria and Crystals.

  • yeah... i don't know how i forgot to mention the cosmo.  it's pretty much my favorite hotel anywhere!
