MIL doesn't have steak knives, I don't know how something like this happens but I want to get her some for Christmas. I have a cheap set and am clueless as to what brands are decent. I know she'll want something dishwasher safe and I'd like something in the $50 range. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Knife block
Decent ones don't go in the dishwasher- we learned the hard way. I actually just saw a set on LivingSocial, but they're gone now. I've seen them more than once, so I'll keep my eye out.
I have Hinkleman (or something like that)
I heard these were good. One of my old co workers has these at her house and she loves them:

I second the Miracle Blades. This will be my next set of knives. My parents have a set at our beach house and i always threaten to steal them, they are so nice. Im hoping Mom/Santa will get me a set.
They rust. Well at least mine did.
I think these might be the winner!
yayyy!
