Hi Ladies,
My DH and I are plannng a 3-night trip to Vegas over Christmas break. We've stayed at Mandalay Bay for a brief conference a few years ago, but really didn't have the time to venture to other places. This is our first vacation without our daughter, so I do want something nice and luxurious since I'm not sure when we'll get a chance to go again. I was looking at either the Encore at Wynn or the Venetian/Palazzo... Any suggestions?
Thanls!
Karen

Re: Vegas Hotel Recs
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan this past summer, and it is gorgeous!!! Their rooms are pricey, but it is brand new, and their restaurant options inside the hotel are all wonderful. There's a restaurant named after a cow (don't remember the name), but they have really good alcoholic milkshakes that are a must!
It was also very convenient since it is located in the middle of the strip.

At sea, heading to Lisbon, Portugal
I've stayed at all 3 of those hotels you're considering and I can tell you that Palazzo rocked my world, loved everything about it! Encore was pretty snazzy but didn't love it, and Venetian was nice but didn't quite cut it (I promise I didn't mean for that to rhyme, lol!). We stayed at the Cosmo this past August and whoa, talk about glam and swag and gorgeousness all over. And yes, you must get a suite with a balcony facing the Bellagio fountains, and if you can swing it, get a 1 bdrm suite with the Japanese soaker tub that has a window overlooking the strip/fountains...heaven!
Make sure to sign up on the hotel websites to get their special promos and deals emailed to you. I get great deals for Palazzo/Venetian all the time. Also, if you're interested in the Cosmo, they are a Marriott affiliated property so you can use and get points if you are a member.

I love the Palazzo. Small casino which means it's not far to walk to the room elevators, all the rooms are suites, always had fast check-in (that is not always the case at some other properties in Vegas), and since it is connected to Venetian, you feel like you are getting two hotels in one.
I stayed at the Cosmo about eight months ago and absolutely loved it! Very swanky, fast check-in, great central location, and if you get the right room you will have great views of the Bellagio fountains. I went with my sister so we just got the basic City Room, but we had the most amazing view of the fountains.
I'll be staying at Aria in April, which will be too late for you
But from the pictures on the website, it looks really nice as well. I walked through on my last trip and really liked the inside of Aria and Crystals.
