Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Why do people do it? The only reason I can think of is to manually flush the toilet but what else could you use it for? Cold bath's? I know there is more and plenty of people do it I just dont know why.
ETA- wouldnt your water still work (just not hot water) if the power goes out?

We have extra water too but I wasnt planning on filling my tub but was debating whether I had to. I couldnt think of any other reason as to why I would need it but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.
If you have a well you wouldn't have water when the power goes out.
Also, in the case of a severe problem, if the water supply gets contaminated, you'd be screwed.
But I think it's mostly people with well water.
