Hope everyone that is in the hurricane's path is doing okay :
We haven't heard anything from H's family in eastern PA. Luckily they are away from the major rivers. We lived with them during Hurricane Irene last year and we lost power so I assume they'll lose power again.
My family is in NJ (inland thank goodness) and NYC so I'm pretty anxious. My parents' house is in the middle of the woods surrounded by trees. One fell on the house a little while ago but thankfully it was dead already so when it hit the roof it fell off and went through the deck instead. I'd rather a big hole in the deck than in the roof! If the tree was a little shorter it would've hit the large bay window in our kitchen. Thank goodness that didn't happen.
I am nervous for them since they are reporting the worst of the storm will be later tonight. I have to stop looking up pics of the storm and get some work done...
Re: Hurricane Sandy
Aw I hope that they will all make it through without too much damange! We have family in NJ too, I think they are also more inland. Living in Indiana we won't have to worry about hurricanes. It's just really windy & they are thinking there may be some power outages.. which is obviously nothing compared to what they are dealing with close to the coast!
Did the hurricane hit where you are?

No. Sandy missed Florida thankfully. Where we used to live in PA has lots of flooding and power outages. I used to work at a 24-hour pharmacy that NEVER closed. I drove to work many times in blizzards where we ended up with over 4 feet of snow. They were told to close. My friend was the manager on duty at the time and he had to call to find out how to lock the door since we literally never had to do it in years LOL.
I definitely understand working somewhere that doesn't close! When I worked at Starbucks during Snowmageddon in 2010, they actually closed my store which was unheard of at the time.
Hopefully everyone in NJ and Eastern PA is safe. One of my sales guys lives outside of Philly and he called in to tell us the door of his deck was blown off and he couldn't stop the rain from coming in the house. Yikes!
They are already cancelling school around here (Pittsburgh area) for tomorrow. That seems a little premature to me. Tomorrow morning might be a different story than tonight. It's making people more nervous.
We just started getting the winds around 6pm, but it's been a steady light-to-medium rain since yesterday.
DH has hockey tonight and I wish they would cancel that just so he doesn't have to be out in the wind and rain.
Keep safe everyone!
