I hope everybody stays safe and has a great day at home! My work didn't officially close but we were told to work from home. The hubs' office is closed until Wednesday.
Re: sandy
DH is closed today too. I am so nervous - we have some crazy tall trees in our yard!
RIP frozen breastmilk (in advance)
go buy dry ice at the beer store asap!
Aw poor M! And GREAT idea for the dry ice!
I'm so annoyed my company wouldn't officially close.
Since I didn't expect to have today off, I ran to the grocery store this morning-beef stew can now be made with my newly acquired free time! The rain, wind and roads were not too bad yet, I've driven in much worse. That being said, I did pass two down trees on my under 10 mile drive. The wet leaves are making the roads slick and starting to clog sewer drains. If you need to go out, do it now. It's just going to get worse. If you're at work, see about early dismissal. I don't think I'd personally want to be on the roads after 2:00 today.
And for those of you lucky people walking distance to Federal Donuts, I just saw on FB that they're giving away a free half dozen with ever half chicken order!
My office is closed, but I have to work from home as long as I have power. The one disadvantage to being able to work from home...no snow/hurricane days.
Ditto letranger. And/or pack your freezer as much as you can full of stuff.
I have three book waiting for me at my library just around the corner but of course they're closed. Luckily I have two books on my kindle right now.
I don't have that much, maybe 20oz. I may or may not need some of it for a wedding this weekend - assuming the wedding is still happening. I can always pump more this week since my pump has a battery pack, I'm just being a brat. My SIL has a generator so we will be headed there once it's safe to leave. I did just read a LLL research article that tested partially defrosted breastmilk - as long as it's not more than 50% defrosted, it can be re-frozen. I want to trust this. For now it's tucked away in the very back of the freezer.
Read a good tip - turn your fridge and freezer to the coldest settings now! That way they will stay colder longer.
Jess - my FWP is that I am supposed to have a wedding this weekend and I don't have a dress or a bra that fits me! My plan was to shop for them this week.
Stay safe ladies! DH is off, and I am still on Maternity Leave so I am of course home...but I did look and if I were still at my old full time job, I would have been made to trek into work today. To basically sell discount movie tickets and sign people up for classes if they came in. I'm so glad I don't work there anymore!
Tracy- thanks for mentioning breastmilk. I was going to pump today to prep for going to weddings this weekend and next- and stupidly didn't even think in my brain that I would have to- duh- freeze it! I think I'll wait...
