So how did everyone hold up last night? Doesn't sound like we got hit very hard. I don't see any large branches down in the yard, which surprised me. We have a few trees with dead branches. I thought for sure a few would have fallen. I hope the rest of you experienced a similar storm Shelia fallout.
The footage out of NYC and NJ is so dramatic. we were lucky to only have caught the edge of that storm!
Re: Weathering the storm
Thankfully, everything at our house was fine as well! The wind sounded terrible around 8:30pm, Brian actually went outside to look at the tree situation (there are a lot of large ones that face one of the windows in Liam's room, that was our main concern) and they were definitely swaying, but everything was fine.
Road had a lot of water on them this morning, but I didn't drive through any pooling. I hope everyone stayed safe and still has power! It's very sad to think of what the people in NY & NJ are going through.

We had called roofers a month or so ago to do some repairs, got an estimate and such, but they hadn't come yet. I'd kind of forgotten about it, until our bedroom wall started bubbling and leaking last night due to some roof issues.
Other then the leaks, all was good with us. NYC looks terrible. Surprisingly, Steve's dad is about 60 miles north of NYC in Duchess county, and hadn't even had rain when we spoke to him last night. The storm's missing him and hitting us. His mom's hunkered down in her apartment watching the storm from 38 floors up.
We faired fine as well, though that wind last night... wow! Some branches down but that's pretty much it. DH just checked our creek bed and was glad he spent the time cleaning it out over the weekend as the leaves were built up again over the drain gate cover.
DH ended up going in with the neighbor yesterday and renting a freakin' generator; I knew it was overkill, but for some reason he's been all worked up over this storm (and he's not the type to get worked up easily!). I*sigh*
My three sons!
I'm very thankful we didn't get as bad as we could have. I know people are complaining about schools and such being cancelled today, but I'm all about better safe than sorry in these sort of situations. Logan is actually the only one at the baby sitter's today.
Getting all of the updates from different parts of our company about the losses they've suffered because of the storm really puts into perspective how lucky we are.
All is good with us too. Nathan's district cancelled last night, so he went in early so he could leave. But all in all, everything is good. Haven't heard from my brother in Baltimore, last year, he lost power for a week. But he has to drive from Baltimore to Cleveland tomorrow for an interview, so that should be interesting.
One of our manufacturers is in East Stroussburg and is closed. We have a contractor all huffy about it because they didn't ship his $15 part. Um, really arsehole? Get your head out of your butt.
No problems at our house other than some intense sounding wind and rain that distracted Todd at bedtime.
DH is trying to work from home with both kids. I hope they are kind to him.
Bonus for me, my office didn't open until 10am. The extra two hours of sleep was VERY needed and I feel much better today than yesterday. So that's my silver lining...
I'm also sort of happy that I don't have to sprint out of work tomorrow, force my kids to eat sandwiches and then trek around the neighborhood in the rain. Yay for Saturday trick or treat!
