Furby

$55?!?!  Didn't they previously retail for like $20?  Do these new ones unload the dishwasher or fold laundry or something?  What am I missing?

Re: Furby

  • I never understood the furby appeal.  So the higher price tag to something I thought was stupid just made me roll my eyes.
  • Oh my gosh you made me laugh--I thought the same thing too.  What is with the price of toys today-the plastic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figure that does nothing is $20. I would not like a Furby going "Bow chick a wow wow" to my kids either..lol

Well I didn't know they were capable of that, perhaps I should change my position on the matter. Wink

  • To give Gavin something to do Tuesday, with school cancelled, I had him go through the Big Book of Toys and circle things. He circled this toy and I ended up throwing away that page last night.

Mean Mommy. Angry But $55 for that (and I didn't even know it "talked") is KRAZY!

Brinley said she wants one from Santa too--but I'm going to tell her Santa must have been out of them.  If the prices are drastically slashed after Christmas, I may indulge her for her birthday in March.  The key word here is drastically though :-)

  • One summer Steve worked at CMU's robotics lab. This was during the height of the Furby craze i the late 90s. He and his lab mate went out to buy a Furby to attach it to the cube robots they were working on. For months they cracked up watching the Furby's noises and expressions while he was bounced around on the robot.

If the guys went out to buy a Furby for their stupid robot project, it definitely wasn't too expensive.

  • I think one of the original ones from the late 90's is still in my parents house (my dad worked for TRU at the time, I think he bought one on super clearance after the craze)...perhaps I should sell that baby on ebay!!

  • The baby Butterscotch pony Lanna has at the top of her Xmas list almost makes Furby seem reasonable. $99 on SALE. Ridiculous. Everything is. The stupid Monster High doll she wants is $25 and it's nothing but a gothic Barbie.
