- Any comments?
Re: How was your Halloween night?
No kids, I dressed my dog as a penguin so I was loosely a penguin trainer.
We stayed home for the 1st hour of trick or treating and had noone come to the door. When we left we put the bowl on the steps and we returned there was still some left.
We went to my mom's for an hour, she has a ton of trick or treaters, all were very polite but no awesome costumes.
Then we went to my IL's, it's my FIL's bday...
We had dinner like at 10 pm after hitting a drive through!

Did you dress up? No
Did your kids dress up? I put Jewels in a Halloween skeleton shirt.
Did you take your kids trick or treating? No kiddies!
Did you get many trick or treaters? Yes! I saw a big group of kids walking down the street on my way home and I sprinted inside my house to grab the candy bowl and turn on the front porch light. Between 6 - 7:30 we probably had over 50 kids. I was afraid we were going to run out of candy.
Any comments? I love Halloween. Last year I was in New Orleans for work and missed the trick or treaters in neighborhood. DH said we didn't get many, but he also didn't turn the light on! I was so excited to pass out candy last night although I'm bummed we never got around to carving our pumpkins for our front porch.
Did you dress up? No
Did your kids dress up? Yes - we bought 2 Rapunzel costumes, but they got nixed as "scratchy" so DD made her own fairy/princess/unicorn costume (?) out of her dress up and ballet stuff. She wouldn't wear a heavy jacket though, but did agree to a hoodie!
Did you take your kids trick or treating? Yes, but only a handful of houses. She got cold and wanted to go home and help hand out candy.
Did you get many trick or treaters? Yes! Probably 50-75. DD did a great job helping and even went out the door to put candy in the baskets of a couple disabled kids who came around.
Any comments? I like Halloween as a kids holiday. DH wants it to be all blood and gore and scary as possible, but is all bummed that he can't decorate it that way because of DD. Its annoying.

We didn't dress ourselves, our dog or DD up. Her bedtime is usually 7/7:30. She was up until 8pm and was a hot mess. No, we stayed home. We got about 30 trick-or-treaters - I think most were from out of the area. The most annoying thing was a MOM (like 50 years old) came running across the lawn shouting "candy", "candy". I was like "You aren't dressed up" and she said "I'm with my daughter". So I sighed and gave her a lollipop, to which she said, I want chocolate. I was like "You're not even in costume." She didn't want the lollipop , so she stuck it in my door.
Frankly, handing out candy brings out the WORST in me. I hate the parents and older kids that don't bother dressing up and basically demand candy. I wish we would stop handing it out.
We had a few trick or treaters but we also went to see our niece and nephew in their costumes.
Did your kids dress up? No kids. I normally dress up the cat but I didn't have time to go buy her a costume.
Did you take your kids trick or treating? My sister brought her kids over and I went out with them for about an hour while DH handed out candy. Then I headed home to hang out with him and hand out candy.
Did you get many trick or treaters? It started out slow but we went through all of our candy (five bags).
Any comments? Halloween is my favorite holiday and it makes me sad that it isn't the same as when I was a kid. The Trick or Treaters would be out for hours (6pm -10pm) but this year, they were all done before 8pm. They also have no hustle. The goal is to hit as many houses as possible and I don't think kids these are motivated enough lol
