How was your Halloween night?

  • Did you dress up?
  • Did your kids dress up?
  • Did you take your kids trick or treating?
  • Did you get many trick or treaters?
  • Any comments?

Re: How was your Halloween night?

  • No kids, I dressed my dog as a penguin so I was loosely a penguin trainer.

We stayed home for the 1st hour of trick or treating and had noone come to the door. When we left we put the bowl on the steps and we returned there was still some left.

We went to my mom's for an hour, she has a ton of trick or treaters, all were very polite but no awesome costumes.

Then we went to my IL's, it's my FIL's bday...

We had dinner like at 10 pm after hitting a drive through!

    • Did you dress up? No. Some year, I'd love to go to (or host) a Halloween costume party and dress up. I just don't think DH would go for it.
    • Did your kids dress up? See siggy!
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? Yes, sort of. We took DS out in the stroller with our friends' kids. The older kids were sprinting from house to house and we only took DS up to a couple doors. He really didn't get it and it didn't go over too well. Next year will be better I hope!
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? We weren't home so I don't know.
    • Any comments?

    • Did you dress up? No, maybe next year
    • Did your kids dress up? Yes DS1 was spiderman and DS2 was a raccoon
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? Yup we strolled around my neighborhood, DS2 was in the stroller since he isn't walking yet but he was perfectly content to watch everything going on
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? Yes we are in a TH community and get a ton
    • Any comments? I should have taken off today like DH did, I am tired

    • Did you dress up? heck no
    • Did your kids dress up? Yes, A garden gnome, and C flower
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? yes for about 30 minutes
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? Maybe 50?
    • Any comments? I'm annoyed with how many older kids were kind of dressed up and a few parents who were asking for candy. One woman came around with her 5 month old baby and was asking for candy. Really?? I took C T&T, but I never went to the door with a bag, because we all know that 7 months do not EAT Candy. Here's a picture for those that aren't on FB. image

  • Did you dress up? No

Did your kids dress up? I put Jewels in a Halloween skeleton shirt.

Did you take your kids trick or treating? No kiddies!

Did you get many trick or treaters? Yes!  I saw a big group of kids walking down the street on my way home and I sprinted inside my house to grab the candy bowl and turn on the front porch light.  Between 6 - 7:30 we probably had over 50 kids. I was afraid we were going to run out of candy.

Any comments? I love Halloween.  Last year I was in New Orleans for work and missed the trick or treaters in neighborhood. DH said we didn't get many, but he also didn't turn the light on!  I was so excited to pass out candy last night although I'm bummed we never got around to carving our pumpkins for our front porch.

    • Did you dress up? No
    • Did your kids dress up? No. She was having a bad allergy day as well as getting her two front teeth in at the same time. She was crying/whiny all day. We dressed her up as a spider on Saturday evening.
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? We went to a Trunk or Treat at a local church but we didn't get her any candy. Just went to visit my ILs who were handing out candy.
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? No
    • Any comments?
    • Did you dress up? Not last night but we did last weekend for our party.
    • Did your kids dress up? No kids
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? N/A
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? We didn't get a single one. Sad
    • Any comments? I took Gracie for a walk and every house was lit up with jack o'lanterns and one even had a bowl of candy out. I never saw a single kid though. I don't think we have any kids in our little hood though.
  • Did you dress up? No

Did your kids dress up? Yes - we bought 2 Rapunzel costumes, but they got nixed as "scratchy" so DD made her own fairy/princess/unicorn costume (?) out of her dress up and ballet stuff.  She wouldn't wear a heavy jacket though, but did agree to a hoodie!

Did you take your kids trick or treating? Yes, but only a handful of houses.  She got cold and wanted to go home and help hand out candy.

Did you get many trick or treaters? Yes!  Probably 50-75.  DD did a great job helping and even went out the door to put candy in the baskets of a couple disabled kids who came around.

Any comments? I like Halloween as a kids holiday.  DH wants it to be all blood and gore and scary as possible, but is all bummed that he can't decorate it that way because of DD.  Its annoying.

    • Did you dress up? Not last night, but we went out to a bar in Severna Park on Saturday to celebrate. I was Rainbow Brite
    • Did your kids dress up? No kids here.
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? N/a
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? Probably about 25 to 30, which is good for my area. We almost ran out of candy, much to my husband's dismay.
    • Any comments? I had pumpkin beer and Hocus Pocus on the TV - I was a happy camper!
  • We didn't dress ourselves, our dog or DD up. Her bedtime is usually 7/7:30. She was up until 8pm and was a hot mess. No, we stayed home. We got about 30 trick-or-treaters - I think most were from out of the area. The most annoying thing was a MOM (like 50 years old) came running across the lawn shouting "candy", "candy". I was like "You aren't dressed up" and she said "I'm with my daughter". So I sighed and gave her a lollipop, to which she said, I want chocolate. I was like "You're not even in costume." She didn't want the lollipop , so she stuck it in my door.

Frankly, handing out candy brings out the WORST in me. I hate the parents and older kids that don't bother dressing up and basically demand candy. I wish we would stop handing it out.

  • We had a good Halloween. I came home early and we had take out Pei Wei before getting into our costumes. We (DH, me, and Keefer) all dressed up as Crayola crayons.  We went to college in the same town that there is the Crayola factory in PA.

We had a few trick or treaters but we also went to see our niece and nephew in their costumes.

  • Did you dress up? Not on Halloween night.  We had Halloween week at work so I dressed up a few times for that. I was a hippie on Favorite Era Day and I was Athena on Mythical Creature Day.  I wore a pumpkin t-shirt two other days.  Any excuse not to wear my uniform!
Did your kids dress up? No kids.  I normally dress up the cat but I didn't have time to go buy her a costume.
Did you take your kids trick or treating? My sister brought her kids over and I went out with them for about an hour while DH handed out candy.  Then I headed home to hang out with him and hand out candy.
Did you get many trick or treaters? It started out slow but we went through all of our candy (five bags).
Any comments? Halloween is my favorite holiday and it makes me sad that it isn't the same as when I was a kid.   The Trick or Treaters would be out for hours (6pm -10pm) but this year, they were all done before 8pm. They also have no hustle. The goal is to hit as many houses as possible and I don't think kids these are motivated enough lol

    • Did you dress up? No, but when my niece asked me what I was for Halloween I told her I was a cat lady and she thought that was hilarious (she's 3).
    • Did your kids dress up? N/A but the cats had costumes.
    • Did you take your kids trick or treating? N/A
    • Did you get many trick or treaters? No, there are like 3 kids in our neighborhood. DH buys the candy for himself haha.
    • Any comments? I think Halloween will be more fun when I have kids, but I was really fine with glazing over the whole holiday.
