New to the Nest

Hi everyone! I'm new the the Nest, came over from the Knot, and just wanted to say hello. Hubby and I are getting pre-approved tomorrow and I'm a little anxious. We both have very good credit scores, steady incomes, and a large deposit ready to be put down so I don't think we will have any problems. I almost feel like I should be prepared for something though.

Any suggestions on what we should have prepared or what we need to bring to the meeting with the bank?

 Thanks!

Re: New to the Nest

  • Check with your agent for advice on what to bring. If you are not using agent, then check with your lender. As for being prepared. Make sure you do not emply your savings - keep an emergency fund in place. Allow also for your moving and start up costs, repair/renovation, decorating and additional items you need - yard, tools, ladder, lawn mower etc. Keep your housing expenses to 25-28% of your takehome pay.
  • Hi there!

How did your meeting go? I'm in a similar situation, husband and I got pre-approved on Wednesday. First, we went to our credit union, but didn't like how it went, so we went to another bank and things went much smoother!

Good luck with finding and buying a home :)
