I applied for this job just a few days ago, and then I get an email on Wednesday saying something like "Thank you for submitting your online application. I wanted to see if you would be available to come in for an interview this week or next week. Please let me know what day/time works best for you and we can go from there."
I thought it was strange to get an email asking me to come in for an interview instead of a call. So I was wondering if this is even legit? I have heard of scam jobs/interviews just trying to get your information or your money or whatever. But does an employer really send an email at 7:45pm about this?
So I was just gonna go with it, because I definitely don't want to lose this chance for a much better paying (and closer to home) job, so on Thursday morning I tried to call her to set up something, but got no answer. I waited a couple hours and called again and this time left a message. I never heard anything back so this morning I sent an email reply just letting her know that I had already called and left a message but hadn't heard back from her and that I am definitely interested in setting up an interview.
So now I'm just waiting. Still haven't heard anything back from them. There was some hope for a while that I could get out of my horrible job but now I'm kind of losing that hope ![]()
Re: Got an Email for an interview..
if you feel unsafe for any reason, see if you can take a friend with you to wait outside... leave your cell phone on and give yourself half an hour before your friend rings, if all is going well just say you are in an interview and will call back, if not going so well have a safe word before going in and use that when your friend calls.
with the way things are today, emails are so fast and to the point saving time and money, so her sending you an email rather than calling on the phone might be the way they work
good luck
I tried to contact her back the next morning and then again the day after that and haven't heard back from her. So now I'm more worried about if she's going to get back with me to set up an interview because I really want this opportunity. I guess I will try again Monday and see what happens.
Thanks for the responses!
Don't take your cell phone in for an interview and leave it on...let alone answer a phone calle during an interview. As an interviewer, that would completely turn me off on a candidate if they answered a phone call during an interview.
I have set up several interviews via e-mail. I don't think anything of it nowadays. I'm in HR, and I send e-mails to applicants all the time letting them know we want to phone screen them.
TTC since June 2012
The company I work for does email interview offers all the time. I believe one of the main reasons to be that the lady the scheduales the interviews is from a different country and english is her second language. She feels a lot more comfortable sending emails than talking on the phone because she can get flustered.
I finally was able to get in contact with her and went in for an interview Friday. I think the interview went really well and now I am just waiting to hear back from them. I had just never heard of email communication to set up an interview, seems like it would be quicker to just make a phone call. Of course, it's not like I go on interviews all the time..
but thanks for the reassurance!
