I have a feeling that shows like Nashville are becoming the new trend. I just watched the new show with Reba called Malibu Country and its the same concept when it comes to the singing. Different story line but it has the same idea where they sing songs and the songs are part of the show.

Re: New trend?
Yeh, it was stupid. I turned it off after a few minutes.

I don't know that I would call this a "new" trend. I mean, Glee first aired in 2009. And then Smash came along at the beginning of this year. And pretty much every show on the Disney Channel has a singing and/or dancing element. And since Disney owns ABC, it's not surprising that the format would carry over. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this all started with Hannah Montana and High School Musical.
That's exactly what I thought when I saw a commercial for it!
I think I missed this whole thing at college. I remember going Christmas shopping and thinking who is this hannah and HS Musical. I'm pretty sure I miss huge world news at college too...
