Re: Monday Madness
I'm pretty excited for Christmas! I LOVE decorating.. when I moved in with H.. we packed all my stuff in his dad's 18ft trailer and moved me. I mentioned that I still had CHristmas stuff to come, but we could get that later. He goes "okay, we'll just pack in the car next time we visit your mom and dad". I had to inform him that we'd need to take his truck, because it wouldn't all fit in the car haha He just rolled his eyes. He won't put lights up on the outside of the house, but will let me do whatever I want to the inside... so i'm okay with that.
This year HAS to be better than last... and i'm looking forward to a more relaxed Christmas.
Here's a friendly poll:
Real or Fake Tree?
At my mom and dad's we'd had the same Christmas tree for 23 years, when I moved in with H he insisted on a real tree... I like them.. but they're a lot of work!
I love Christmas, it's my favorite holiday!!
I LOVE wrapping presents, it's seriously my favorite thing to do ever! I also love finding just the right gift for each person on our list, I get so excited. H and I have big families, so its nice to get together with eveyone for Christmas. I also can't wait to decorate our apartment this year too.
Last year we weren't able to get a tree (we had moved into our apartment a week before Christmas) so I'm hoping to get one this year. We'll do a real tree, H and I both love the smell of a real tree and both of our parents have had fake ones for a few years now so we miss being around a real tree.

I love Christmas even more than my birthday. We got a new tre this year (fake of course.) I am highly allergic to real trees and the smeel aggervates my allergies really bad. H and I have gotten more decorations this year a lot of stuff MIL had that I can't wait to use. Also I bought the stuff to make a new wreath. We have 2 doors so I have one already but I wanted a really fun one for our main door.
We even have Christmas presents already. Just stuff we saw and thought that would be great. 1 is for my dad and the other for my aunt. Also we have bought 1 gift for each other already. And since I took down my "fall/halloween" stuff this weekend I really want to put up Christmas stuff.
I enjoy Christmas, A LOT! I just like the music, and decorations, and getting together with family.. makes me all warm and fuzzy
H and I bought a tree last year after Christmas when all the stuff was 50% off! So we're set tree decorations.
BUT.. H's parents came over last night and gave us a card with $100 bucks in it, saying that we should go get Christmas decorations for the house! They did it with their others kids too.. so I thought that was a sweet thing of them to do! So guess what I am doing this week?? haha
We decided on our aunt/ uncle/ cousin presents this weekend and went out and bought all the supplies- Every year we usually mass produce something for non-immediate family, and we were having the hardest time coming up with stuff this year, especially since we're flying rather than driving this time around. SO glad to have the hard part of those gifts out of the way
And we do real trees! I'm fine either way, but H loves having a real tree- even though I've tried to point out several times it's a lot less messy to have a fake tree with a nice pine scented candle buring ;p
H & I usually travel for Christmas. Christmas Eve/Christmas morning with his family and Christmas day with mine. I'm hoping H can get the day after Christmas off so we don't have to rush around, but he works in retail, so we'll see!
We have a 4ft fake tree that we bought super on sale after Christmas one year. It works for now since it's just the two of us and we're not even home on Christmas. Plus MIL goes all out on her tree. It enormous and has at least 2 ornaments on each branch! One day when we have kids and spend Christmas at home we'll get a real tree.
I LOVE Christmas! It is by far my favorite holiday. Christmas Eve is at my parents' house, Christmas morning is just us, and Christmas night we go to H's grandparents' home.
We've already done some Christmas shopping. We'll be decorating the day after Thanksgiving and I can't wait.
This year, H knows what I'm getting him because it's the only thing he wants and has asked for. But I still want him to be surprised so I'm doing a '12 days of Christmas' that I saw on Pinterest. So 12 days before X-mas I'm giving him 12 cookies. 11 days before he' ll get 11 different candies. 10 days before, I'm giving him a $10 gift card, etc, etc all the way until Christmas. I definitely think he'll be surprised, and I can't wait to see the look on his face each day
We use a fake tree and always will. H and I don't like the smell of real ones and don't want to deal with the mess.
Looking forward to Christmas! We usually don't decorate too much because our place is so small (when I was single I decorated a little, but it was just me and I was always gone for the holiday so I didn't do anything too elaborate), but this year I hope to get more into it now that we're in a house.
My favorite part of the holiday is cards... I love making ours, mailing them, and getting cards from people.
I think we'll get a real tree, but I'm not entirely sure just yet. My dad's company operated a tree lot my entire childhood, so I grew up around them and worked at the lot for a bunch of winters during HS and college. They are a lot of work though, so depending on our final plans, we may get a fake one. We'll see.
H and I will continue to celebrate separately
From mid-Dec to mid-Feb, is blocked time for my work. We aren't allowed to take any time off. We get Dec 25th off, and Jan 1st off, but that's it. H's birthday is Xmas eve, and his family is super tiny, so until we have kids, he'll be heading home for the holidays, and I'll stay here. I"m lucky that my family is here, though, otherwise, we'd have to adjust our plan!
When Christmas is on a weekend, I have been able to go down for the long weekend, but typically, we're apart. It's a bummer, but it's what works for now. I can't very well expect H to spend every Christmas here with me, and my family, when I'm unable to reciprocate. So, this works for us.
He loves Christmas, though, and Christmas Vacation is his favorite movie. His goal is to be the 'Griswold House.' So he always goes all out decorating the house- inside, and out! Last year, a new family moved onto the street, and they spent all winter trying to outdo each other. It was hilarious!
Lots of houses in our neighborhood do pretty well, with inflatables and everything, so we always spend at least one evening just driving around checking out the decorations!
After 2 years of TTC, lots of tests, and a Hysteroscopy/Laparoscopy to remove several polyps,

This is my H by far. Good grief. Every year just when I think it isn't possible to buy and add more lights, somehow new ones show up! H is well on he Griswold way already this year. He also tries to "change it up" every year, so lights are different, displays different....just because he can!
Good thing we both LOVE Christmas! Not sure he would have married me if I wasn't a Christmas nut. Bummer this year, H has to work on-call and my family will all be out of state in DE with my sister. Makes me happy they will all be together but starting to feel more and more depressed that we won't be there too. Chin up and looking forward to having just the two of us (hopefully he doesn't get called-in) quiet and beautiful Christmas this year.
Like everyone else, I love Christmas!
We have a fake tree. Actually, we have two. A three foot one my mom gave us when we lived in our apartment and a six foot one we got when we moved into our house.
My mom decorates her house like a crazy person - I'm talking 3 different trees! So I like to decorate our house too since I grew up with trees, Santas and nativities everywhere! I probably won't do a ton this year though because my son is due in January and I don't want to have to worry about getting the Christmas decorations put away while we're preparing for the baby.
