I will give you a yummy recipe and ask a dumb question here

So. .. I made this casserole last week:

http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/broccoli_beef_potato_hotdish.html

(I substituted ground turkey for ground beef) and it was super yummy - like a better shepherd's pie kinda.

Anyway, it supposedly serves 8 and needs to be made in a 9x13 casserole.  Next time I make it, I'd like to divide it into 2 pans - make one and freeze the other.  But, I'm not sure what size to bake it in (maybe an 8x8 casserole?) and if I would need less time - and if so - how much less?

  • So you have 117 square inches (although I guess we should attempt to figure out volume) so each new pan should hold 58.5. The closest I know of is 8 by 8?
  • time...I would just keep your eye on it the 1st time you do it
  • I always use an 8x8 when I need "half" of a 9x13. It's not exact, but it's the closest standard size dish you probably have.

For cooking time, I'd probably put it in and start checking it around 25 mins.
