Pregnancy anouncments

The wife of one of H's friend posted on facebook " Can we tell people are pregnant n<3w?! :D " from her wall on to his. Yes, the o for now is a heart. I didn't respond or like this. I don't know how to respond. How do you respond to that? Her H comented " We're What?!" Other comments from people are similar.

This got me to thinking how did our pregnant 2011 knotties announce the bundle of joy to the world?

Re: Pregnancy anouncments

  • Oh I have a great one!

Back in 2009 when we found out we were expecting, well, we took a few days to conclude we were ok and going to go through with it. Then we made my first appointment. Apparently I was earlier along then we thought and there was no heartbeat yet so we went back a few days later and everything checked out. So that night H and I went to a celebratory dinner at an Italian restaurant called Prego. We didn't realize the irony of the name when choosing, it was just a place we wanted to try.

Now, this was back before you could "check in" on Facebook and H had a habit of leaving the restaurant we were dining at's name for his statuses when we went out so he would have it documented.

Therefore, he left his status that night as "Prego" and when we woke up in the morning and he looked at his phone he just started laughing. He had like 15 comments underneath it saying congrats and one that was like "huh?"

So we made a more formal fb announcement later in the day. We had, of course, already told our families and close friends via telephone beforehand, so no hurt feeling there or anything, luckily.

  • So e - do you think that the husband knew?  Or was that her way of telling him!?  If he didn't know, I don't think I agree with the way that was handled.

Zero - that is too funny!!

  • I checked Facebook before getting on Tk. Yep, ky29, he had to of known (I'm assuming here) because there was an ultrasound pic put up around 7am. The first post was put up around dinner time. Odd way to announce it. I am very happy for them. We know how much he wanted a little one.

Zero that is the funniest thing. Had me chuckling. :)

  • Haha Zero that's fantastic!

I saw on pinterest a couple that took a picture of him kissing her belly with a bow and a gift tag that said "Do not open until June 2013". They got the picture made into puzzles and sent it to their family members who were out of town to put together on Christmas. I would love to pull off something like that one day!!

Someone I know did something similar, except it was their 2 year old kissing the belly.

My cousins' wives got pregnant within weeks of each other, and the first ones posted it on FB when she hit her second trimester.  We all arrived at Father's Day and there was an ultrasound taped to the wall.  We all assumed it was the first one's, so when my usually-a-jokster cousin said "did you see my baby?" and pointed, I didn't believe him.  Until I looked at the name on the picture and it was his wife.

  • I really like reading these responses. The puzzle idea is such fun and that so cool about the cousins' wives.
  • Yeah... that was a strange way of announcing it to the FB world!

    We announced --

To our parents:  We gave them baby frames and inside the frames it said, "This frame is empty.  Please fill in March 2013."

To my sister: I gave her a "My Auntie Rocks" onesie.

To my SIL's family: I gave them a "cousins" frame with a similar "Please fill in March 2013" note inside.

To FB: I posted the photo that is in my signature and said, "We're going to have a lot more laundry to do starting in March 2013!"   To announce the sex I posted a picture of a onesie that said, "Daddy's Little Girl."

  • My former B/SIL announced their first pregnancy at Christmas - for his side they gave us all a little bag, had us open at the same time and we all pulled out items similar to PP - frames, baby toys, etc. It was fun to watch the expression of everyone as it dawned on them what was happening! For her family, they walked into a family party and had two different shirts on - hers said "and baby makes three" and his said "my boys can swim!". her family thought it was hilarious and so do I. Very cute.

My parents tried to do the same thing with my grandparents when they were telling them my mom was preg with me. It was XMAS and my grandma had been hounding them for yrs to have a kid (they waited 5 yrs after marrying bc they wanted some time together first) - so they told her "and your other present will be here in July" and my grandma was totally clueless and was like "oh, that is nice". Finally, my aunt (who was only 14 at the time) said "Mom! Linda is pregnant!" hehe

  • I almost forgot... I bought this shirt to announce it to my extended family at a birthday party:  Designated Driver Shirt

  • I love reading these ideas!

I have a couple of ideas on how I want to announce when we get pregnant.  To tell DH's extended family, I would love to involve our niece.  I want to get a shirt that says something about cousins and have her wear it, and see how long it takes them all to notice :-).

  • Love that t-shirt Meg's!

It was a strange way to announce it to the Facebook world and your friends. We never got a call or text from them and H was in their wedding this year. Oh we'll. H confessed to me that he's bummed/ a bit jelous/ sad/ I can't remember how he said it that they are having a kid. He wasn't thrilled about the way he found out either. Poor H. He wants a child so bad and can't wait to see my belly grow.

  • It is very possible that we may be expecting as I type this because I've had all of the symptoms this month. I took a HPT a few days ago and it was negative, but it wasn't an early testing one (ugh, I wasn't paying attn when I bought them) so it is possible that I still am b/c my period is still a few days away. Anyway, I'm really hoping that I am b/c I've got a super cute status update I want to post for the big reveal. If we do end up with a BFP we will be due in July, and I would like to announce it to the world around the end of December. I really, really want the chance to say "Well...it's looking like we're going to have Christmas in July b/c I've got a partridge in my pear tree!" Ha!
