H and I are thinking Disney for our one year since we didn't really have a honeymoon. Any recommendations on where to stay? We're thinking the French Quarter but aren't sure.
Re: So Who's been to Disney
Sooo jealous! H and I LOVE Disney!
I've never stayed on property (though we plan to the next time we go). I stayed at the Caribe Royale years ago, and liked it. Hard Rock Hotel is nice if you're willing to splurge a little. It's walking distance to the Universal parks if you're planning on going there as well.
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was really nice and really affordable. They have a shuttle that will take you to each park, if you don't plan on renting a vehicle. We went the first week in June and it wasn't at all crowded which was nice. I would highly suggest it if you are looking for a place off property to save some money.
Free Disney Tickers
Been there lots of times and in fact spent our "after wedding" there with my family. We don't ever stay at the resorts as H's family lives just outside of LA so we just stay with MIL. I do think most if not all the hotels that are around there do free shuttles to the parks. I think all of the hotels that you stay at on property are going to be "kid friendly" after all, it's Disney! I would suggest if you are planning on spending all of your time on the property, to check into their packages. We've had friends do this and it seems like it was fairly reasonable. If however you want to venture away from the parks, I would suggest staying at a city outside of Anaheim, just because it would be cheaper and rent a vehicle. H just spent a couple of weeks down there renting a car and I think it was $90/week. Not bad - I don't think.
There is a TON to do in southern CA so don't feel like you are bound to Disney only!
