Are red windows a "trend" that will soon pass or would you totally have them in your dream home?
Front door: Painted or stained wood?
Re: House questions
I really like red windows--I think they're beautiful. IMO, the brick needs to be more brown if they're used, though...there's not enough of a contrast if it isn't. When it's done right, I think they're awesome.
On the front door, I think I'd probably have to see the rest to really know and see what paint color you are thinking. Unless you're painting black or brown, and then it's pretty easy to get an idea. We painted ours and it needs to be painted again. The top layer of gloss is starting to peel due to weather wear. When we lived in Moore our door was stained and we put a coat of polyurethane on it after year 2 and it looked brand new again. If I were picking a door now, I'd look into a metal door with a rain glass inset for privacy that opened so I could clean it. They're beautiful and you wouldn't have the issues with weather wear.
I'm with boymom on the red windows. If they are done with the right contrasting exterior they would look great.
Front door really just depends on the exterior as well.
Obviously red windows are a trend. I wouldn't do it. Windows are a huge chunk of change to replace.
I think they are trendy, but I still got them and I love them. You have to have the right brick color though.
I like a stained door. I really like the stained doors with the rain glass and wrought iron in them.
I talked myself out of red windows... I will want to change trim colors with time and trying to coordinate with the reds in the brick plus the red windows is too much for me. I LOVE the red windows with our brick selection right now but the tan will still look nice.
I also decided today that I will have stained wood of some sort, I may have big glass and iron panels or just the little speakeasy. I too love the rain glass!
I am so glad I can get unbiased opinions from you guys. So far this process is pretty fun but I am not into the nitty gritty yet.
