DH lost his ring

DH doesn't wear his ring that often.. mostly because he shouldn't wear it at work for safety reasons.  He will sometimes wear it when we go out when he thinks about it.  He usually leaves it on the end table in our living room - odd spot, but it's where he always keeps it so I leave it alone.  Out of the blue yesterday I realized I hadn't seen it in a while, and I had just cleaned Thursday because I had a friend coming into town.  We turned the house upside down yesterday - I'm pretty sure it's gone.  The only thing I can think of is it must've gotten picked up with something and throw away.  Sad  He doesn't wear it often so it's not too big of a deal, but it still makes me sad.  It wasn't too expensive and part of me just wants to go buy him a new one.  But he wants to wait and see if it turns up.  What would you do?

Re: DH lost his ring

  • That stinks!

Honestly, I'd probably wait a bit to see if it turns up.

  • I would probably wait a few days then get an inexpensive replacement for the time being. If he wore it everyday I would probably do it sooner, but it seems like a non-issue.
  • DH lost his ring as well :-(  We've both lost a bunch of weight, and his ring was getting too lose on his finger.  We hadn't got it re-sized yet, and he thinks he lost it at work somewhere.  I was bummed, just because we didn't get him a super cheap ring.  We got a cheap replacement for him a couple of weeks ago.

  • Back in 2003 or 4 H was visiting me at University. When he got out of the car he noticed his promise ring was not on his finger. He searched everyplace for his ring and could not find it. He was so upset. We went to Walmart to buy him a replacement. Cuz I was super classy as a high schooler and bought his ring at Walmart. We drove back and ended up getting the same parking space as when he lost his ring. I stepped out of the car, walked maybe a step or two, and found his ring! I look down a lot when I walk. We happily returned the new ring, they were identical, and he wore it until the day we got married.

My point being buy the new ring but make sure there is a return policy. You may find the original wedding band when you least expect it. Stuff always seems to be found when you aren't thinking about and looking for it.

That stinks. I hope it's found.

  • Mine lost his 2 weeks ago also... long story but we think it's in my parent's next door neighbor's yard. They let us look, but no luck. It sucks and I wish we could afford to go buy him a new one right now, but I'm waiting to see if maybe it turns up...
