Invites

So I've been asked to help with a *very* last minute baby shower, that is less than a month away.

I made invites using Microsoft Publisher, and they turned out very cute.  But there the old school, fold a peice of paper into 4s.  I swear they are cute, but is it cheesy?  The other option is to run over to Michaels, and grab the invites that you write the details in.

Thanks.

Re: Invites

  • Do you have time to go to Target, Michaels or the like and get printable invites?  I don't print them myself.  Last time I took them to Staples, and they charged me .10 per invite to print them.  They looked professional, didn't cost much and hardly any effort on my part.  Good luck!
  • My initial reaction was Huh? but with less than a month to go...if you can print those bad boys out tonight an get them in the mail by tomorrow, I say just go for it!

Was that for color?  Or just black and white?  Even if I don't have time to get them done this time, it's good to know for later on down the road.  I usually just use Vistaprint, but without advance notice, they kill you on expediated shipping.

And who decides to throw a baby shower in the middle of the holidays, with less than a month's notice????????  The mom put it off because she thought it would be like the bridal shower last year when we (bridesmaids) hosted it.  I always thought the mom hosted the baby shower.

  • Try Walgreens.com or something like that. You may be able to design something quickly without using a photo and just pick them up. I also know my sister did something through shutterfly and picked them up at Walmart.

  • Cvs.com has invites you can make right online without a photo and just pick them up at the store. Good luck!

  • Personally, I think it's fine for last minute to do the old school print at home, BUT .... it may actually be cuter (and less old-school) just to print it out like a flyer on the full 8.5x11 rather than the folded ones.  Also, if you do it full page flyer style you can fold it like a letter and run out and get regular (and cheap) letter size envelopes to mail them in.

Get creative if you want to spruce them up on the cheap.  You could also print them black and white then grab a cool baby related stamp and a metallic stamp pad for an embossed type looks. (Bonus points, you could then also stamp the plain white envelopes and make them look matchy matchy.)

    Good luck!

  • It was for black and white.  They were on colored/decorated invites.  So, I thought it looked ok.

I was thinking "who throws a shower in the middle of the holidays with such little notice?"

Cute idea that I saw last year around the holidays for a baby shower, so I guess you aren't the only one who is getting to host something like this in the middle of complete holiday chaos.  They had a small table top tree (guess you could do it with a big one too), and decorated it with little baby stuff (socks, pacifier etc....).  It was cute, not overly decorated with all the baby stuff, and useful too.

All I can say is, good luck to you!  I am not envious of your position right now.
