I'm getting pictures taken of the kids this weekend, and I'm scrambling for outfit ideas. (this session was scheduled last minute, and you'd think that with closets full of clothing, they would have had something that coordinated, but no....thus, I'm scrambling!)
The session will be outside, with just the 2 kids. we'll be using it for our christmas cards, but the outfits don't need to scream "christmas". I feel like I put them in sweatervests every year, so I'd like to do something different if possible, but I'm not totally opposed to it.
Stores that are options for me: Target, Old Navy, Gap, Gymboree, Kohls, Macys
Re: If you're bored (kids clothes for pictures)
Corduroys and polo shirts? Or do you want dressier?
I did a checked button down and jeans for Brody's 3 year old picture. I really liked the way it looked - I am done with sweater vests. The Gap has some cute plaid ones.

I love just about all these sweaters from Old Navy

I like the idea of doing some type of sweater (grey or something like that) on one, with maybe a coordinating colored button up on the other. OR, one of the sweaters posted on both, with different plaid button downs under them?
Amber, your link isn't working, boo

Emmy,
Sweaters like this seem to be a hit with Owen ... 1/2 zipper mock neck.
http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1239402/chaps-mockneck-sweater-boys-8-20.jsp (this is the one we got him)
I just find it easier to get on him then a button up shirt and sweater and there is less layers and less fussing to get him dressed (and I don't have to iron:)
HTH!
What about sweaters with some cute hats (if your boys keep them on -- mine doesn't)? The sweaters are Target, hats from Gap. You could remove the hats from some pics obviously for some more traditional photos, but for the Christmas card it might look cute!

For ours, Todd wore a blue and white checked button down with a brown cardigan (which was only in one picture because he runs hot and the sun was out. So for most pictures it is blue button down with khakis.
Heather wore a pink LS tee under a purple pullover sweater and jeans. So they didn't match or coordinate, but the colors they wore didn't clash.
And, actually, the clothes they wore last year sort of clashed, and I still loved the pictures. :-)
I like putting one in a striped or plaid and then the other in a solid color that coordinates with the pattern.
I found a great hoodie pullover sweater (black and gray stripe) for out photo session last month and then put #1 in a solid black half-zip pullover. I think it worked out well!
Loving the hat ideas too - especially for holiday photos!
My three sons!
