Hey there, I just saw your reply about my monthly situation :)

So you had a similar problem (not due to bcp) and had your thyroid levels checked? Did it turn out to be something with your thyroid? The reason I ask is that I've always been sensitive like this while on bcp - I had the same issues years before I had Gabriel, so I can't blame it on post-partum weirdness. I don't typically have this issue if I'm not on bcp.

Re: lala5507

  • I do have a thyroid condition (have had it for years) but I am medicated for it so it normally doesn't cause me andy problems.  They did an ultrasound to rule out any problems with the uterus.  My doc had me go on bcp for 2 months to try to "restart my system" and it worked so I didn't bother getting my thyroid rechecked.  I go to my endocrinologist next month so I'll still bring it up.

It wouldn't hurt to get your thyroid levels checked.  Problems with your periods is a pretty common problem if your levels are off.

Also, I had major thyroid problems after I had both of my daughters.  It took almost a year after my second dd was born for the doc to find the right dose to level me back out.

This can occur after pregnancy http://www.thyroid.org/postpartum-thyroiditis/

  • Thank you so much, I never new that pregnancy could affect so much!

I talked to my doc today and she's changing the dosage on my current bcp - but told me if this doesn't work itself out, I'm going to have to come in for some tests. If she doesn't bring up possible thyroid issues, I definitely will.

  • Your welcome.  I hope you get it straightened out soon.  There's nothing more miserable than having none stop periods.
