Once upon a time -general season 2 thought/question

So we're pretty far into season 2 now and there's just something I can't seem to wrap my head around. Season one worked really well for me with the "present day" and "flashbacks/fairy tale world," but season two seems kind of off to me on some episodes. I feel like this season there are random fairy tale world flashbacks but they don't exactly fit into the main storyline like they did last season. I'm also unsure of when they're taking place in the grand scheme of things timeline.... For example this past week with Red's episode. It was sort of random.  It didn't really fit into the whole point of this season where snow and Emma are Mia and stuck in another world. They are really barely in episodes....it's like either the episode focuses on them and forgets the other world completely or vice versa. Maybe I'm imagining this??? Do you think it will all fit in at the end of just be one "random" season.

Btw, I know this is sort of a rant, but I really do love this show. I was just thinking about this after tonight's episode!

  • I think it will all fit in at the end.  Like the Aurora/ Henry dream connection.

  • I think they eventually had to go there with Red, but I totally agree with the whole back and forth bit.  It's hard to get invested in a story line when they switch back every other episode.  I am very interested how the dreams are going to connect them.  If Snow had them at first, what was she connecting to?

  • I like that they're switching around but I just watched season 1 on netflix recently so everything is really fresh in my mind.

I think it will all fit together. I listen to the podcasts with the producers and they seem to have it all thought out.

I think this dream thing with Henry and Aurora is going to be good.

  • I like the new layout of this season, too. It's different then the setup last season but I feel like that did it that way last season to give us all of the back story for each character.  It's not needed for everyone now.

I agree with PP, I'm really excited to see what happens with this dream.  I think it's going to be the way that Emma and Snow get back to Storybrooke.  Not sure how yet but I think it's some kind of portal.

  • I think they're adding wayyy too many characters this season, Mulan, Lancelot, and Dr. Frankenstein?? Those aren't really fairy tale characters in my book.

I think they had to do the whole Red episode because they needed to show that the King was out to get Charming.  But I really do like Red, so I was okay with that.

I'm really excited about the dream connection though, I think that was a good twist.

I think the multiple characters thing is ok. It keeps it fresh and they do seem to be rotating them around which I like because it keeps them fresh. We haven't seen Cinderella in a few episodes for example. It gives just a little something new while still having the main characters there.

I let Mulan pass b/c I think of her as a Disney character and honestly that's how my mind groups Aurora, Snow, Cinderella, etc. Lancelot did seem odd to me but he fit a need in the episode so I guess I get it. Frankenstein was odd but it worked for Halloween. It'll be interesting to see what/if they do with him now.
