sharing a calendar with your H

We need to find a better way to coordinate our schedules, and DH is notoriously bad at adding things to his calendar.  His iphone is through work, so the calendar is synced with his Outlook calendar.  I also have an iphone and would love to use the calendar on it and share with DH.  I am not sure if his phone will allow a shared calendar, though.

Anyone have any experience with this?  Or do you have an app that syncs calendars on multiple phones?

Re: sharing a calendar with your H

  • My DH and I share a calendar but we do it through google.  We each have a gmail account and use the google calendar and share our calendar with each other.  This has worked well for us - I also do the same with google docs for things like party invite/RSVP list, etc.  DH and I are both Android lovers, so I have zero knowledge of apple stuff.

All of this. Works out well for us.

  • We both have Iphones. You can have more than one calendar on the phone through iCal (although I'm not sure how it'll work with his being synced to outlook). I have one called "home" that I set up to share with him. When I'm adding something to the calendar it has a section for which calendar I want to add it to. So if its just mine it shows up in purple and he can't see it. If I choose "home" its green and he can see it. Each time we add something the other person's phone dings letting them know something was added.

It works out really well. When I set it up I went to the share option and I believe I just put in his email address and it asked him to accept it.

When you come over to look at CDs, can you please show me how to figure this out on my computer???

  • iCal - is that standard on the iphone, or is it an app?  I have a 4s, and I don't see it on my phone.

  • Kernel- did you add the calendar on the cloud?
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • hmmm not sure if its on the cloud? When I go to settings and "iCloud" my calendars are "on" so I'm assuming its all synced?

I went into the calendar then at the top I clicked "calendars" then "edit" and then "add calendar." Then it asks you to name it and assign it a color. After that it'll show up on your list of calendars. If you click on the new one it'll say "Share with:" and you can add someone. Then you put in their email address and they'll get an email asking them if they want to share. After that you should both see it!! For something so simple, it took me a long time to figure that out :)

  • Oh my gosh, my DH would never update an online calendar.

We do it the old-fashioned way....we have a wall calendar from Paper Source in our kitchen that we write stuff on.

we do this too because I like the visual...but dh never looks at it. So really it's just for me. For dh, if its not in his outlook calendar he will never remember.

  • I figured it out! All we had to do was go to calendars and click home under the cloud. So easy!

  • Oh, and our work calendars stay on our separate phones.
