Have you decided how you're doing holidays? DH and I haven't decided on how to split time between our two families!
Re: 1st Holiday Season
My Planning Bio - Update 8/5/12
we don't really have this issue on the day of, because our family's live 2,000 miles apart. We live close to my family so we spend the holidays with them. We have been swithcing years ofr christmas. And this year is "technically" my inlaws year. But since we just got married and saw everyone, we will do xmas at their house next year. We are planning to go to visit them in January when flights are less expensive (in 2010 it cost us over $2300 in airline tickets!) and get together with family then.

i can't wait until we have a place of our own either-- so that we can start hosting holidays. I really want to host thanksgiving and hopefually my husbands family will come out. They don't make a really big deal about Christmas either and my family does... so its hard to spend that holiday with them.
This will be our 9th Christmas together, so we have it down to a science.
Christmas Eve: My parents house for dinner, gifts, and church, then his dads house for gifts.
Christmas Day: His grandparents house for breakfast and gifts, my grandparents' house for lunch, and his mom's for dinner.
We have my other grandparents side in there somewhere, but they're usually a weekend before or after Christmas. So that makes it a lot easier. Most of our Christmas' are 45 minutes to an hour and a half away from each other. So we feel like we're constantly driving and running everywhere, but we love seeing all of our family, so we make it work.

Our holiday season will be different because this marks the first Christmas that I will be spending separate from my family. My parents and oldest brother are flying to my sister's place in VA. DH and I can't afford to go, nor can my older (but not oldest) brother lol.
Thanksgiving will likely be spent with my family due to Xmas traveling (this was supposed to be the year with DH's family).
Christmas (if I have it off, fingers crossed) will be kind of like brij's. We will spend Christmas Eve with DH's Dad, Christmas morning with DH's grandpa & step grandma, Christmas afternoon/evening with DH's Mom. Usually DH's grandma & great grandma have their gathering a different day, but sometimes is Christmas evening and we work DH's Mom in around that.
We usually spend most of the days driving and hardly spend any time with people lol, but we love seeing all our families as Christmas is important to all of us.
Hubby and I have also been together awhile so have it all down.
We do Thanksgiving with his family and occasionally my mom, little brother and sister will join us there.
Christmas eve we do at my moms with my older brother and SI.
Christmas morning we stay home and do breakfast and gifts with our kids and then head to MIL for the remainder of the day. Really wish we could just stay home though since the kids always hate having to leave all their new gifts.
