Xmas Tree

I just realized I haven't picked out a theme for my Xmas tree yet. I don't have traditional ornaments yet, so I usually do something 'pretty.' Last year I did

But this year I need something new. I've done pointsettias with gold balls before, but I don't want to do that again. I'm looking now.

What do you do with your tree?

Ps.  i fixed pinterest. I had some weird toolbar that appeared and with it came problems. I figued out how to uninstall it, and now my pinning is back!

PPS. I know the pic is big, but I don't know how to make it smaller with tiny pics.

Re: Xmas Tree

  • My grandmother downgraded her tree and I have all their old ornaments.  I remember some of them from when I was really little!  I also have all my special ornaments that I've been given over the years/made in school etc.  H has some ornaments but not as many as me.

Do you plan on doing a theme every year or eventually build up a collection?

    my read shelf:
B's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
  • I figure eventually I'll have a collection of special ones...but I'm also not very sentimental into things like that, so I kind of like doing a theme. Someday I'll do a kids tree for all their homemade ornaments and a real tree for me to enjoy decorating.

This is what my mom did while we were growing up. Her trees now always look like something out of Martha Stewart Magazine.

  • Our tree is gold, green and red themed.  Green and red balls, snow flakes, gold ribbon, etc.  And each year I get us an ornament.  Like First Christmas together, first home, and this year will be wedding themed.  I saw where you cut strips out of your wedding programs/invites and strip them so they curl, then you put that in a glass ball.  Might try this too lol.

As for your tree - what about blue while, and silver?  Like a snowflake theme?  I want this to be our next theme and alternate it... I'd have to go after christmas shopping to get it for cheap...

  • PS on tinypic there's a drop down for size when you upload it now.  I usually pic the email size.

  • We put red, green, and white lights on our tree and I guess the majority of the ornaments follow that color scheme.  We need to get a skirt and I have my eye on this one:

I was actually thinking about this. I have 2 other themes, but I'd like to add this to my rotation. I think I'm going to go to the Xmas Tree Shop and Dollar store and get the stuff today hopefully.

As far as a tree skirt- they are SO expensive. I actually go to JoAnne Fabric and get a few yards of a fun fabric, and then just wrap it aruond under the tree like a skirt- works just fine!

  • I have 3 trees...1 colored lights and 2 with white lights.    I use a variety of ornaments on 2 of them.  Everything from figurines to huge glitter balls.    The 3rd is 4 feet tall and has beach ornaments on it.
