I gave one of my classes a project to do where they had to write a paper and make a poster about a show of their choosing. At least 3 kids literally just copied and pasted their papers from the internet. Several didn't do the majority of what was required. I literally gave them a list of what should be included in the paper. The paper was supposed to be a page long and one student literally gave me 3 sentences.
One student's paper was in the form of an email from a BlackBerry (the heading literally has the subject line, from, to, etc) and it
came from an email address that included the words "crazy ***" in it.
This was supposed to be in place of a test grade because I thought it would be easier. I'm never doing this again.
Re: I can't make this stuff up...
Wow. At that age?! On that topic?!
I'm kind of confused though... I thought you were teaching music? Am I out of my mind?
This is totally just a guess, but she might mean a show as in a musical. Maybe? But anyway, I was wondering the same thing.

I think I wrote one paper per year in Middle School Choir. We also had a singing exam. We pick a song to sing and you could do it in a group, duet or solo. Could be a cappella or accompanied.
That's really bad. I hope they got big fat F's for not following instructions and plagiarizing. I'm mean like that but this is what my teachers would have done in middle and high school.
I'm a poor test taker so I would have loved writing a paper instead if you were my teacher. I also would be so upset that a few jack offs ruined writing papers instead of tests for future tests.

Yes! A musical show. Sorry I was confusing. I teach one classroom music class that is more like a normal class. It just blows my mind that at 12 years old, they don't put their name on the top of a major paper. A heading that involved at least my name was automatic to me by then. It's quite a learning experience to me to see what the new 'norm' in school abilities at this age is because I know there was a lot more expected of me in 6th and 7th grade.
My mind did NOT even go there!! I went straight to TV show. It wasn't confusing! That makes a lot more sense.
It's still ridiculous.
