Finally moving to Pittsburgh tomorrow--suggestions please
We'll be joining DH at the hotel where he's already been staying in Cranberry all week. Our move in to our temporary house keeps getting delayed since his boss's closing on his new house keeps getting delayed and we're moving into his old house in Seven Fields.
If you're familiar with that area--I'd appreciate any suggestions on
1-Pediatricians
2-Primary care docs
3-GYN's (don't need an OB)
4-Dentists
5-Gyms
Thank you!
Re: Finally moving to Pittsburgh tomorrow--suggestions please
Welcome to the area! I live about 4 miles from Cranberry, so I'm pretty familiar with the area.
Our pediatrician is about 20 minutes away, so I'll let the other ladies here recommend their local docs.
PCP: My DH and I love Dr. Gordon Gold. He's very straight and to the point, but he is thorough, keeps his schedule and is very quick with test results. (ex. My husband had routine bloodwork done on a Saturday morning and received a call at 9:30p that night from the actual dr. with results - which were all fine.)

GYN: Womancare Associates in Sewickley/Wexford - about 10 minutes from Cranberry.

Dentist: I see Dr. Sheedy in Wexford. He does treat kids as well - great staff and great bedside manner.

good luck with the move!
My three sons!
2-Primary care docs: We used to see Jen and Al Zangardi but they moved so we see Jen's dad, Ira Baumgartel in Mars but I'm not opposed to finding a new PCP (I'd like one in their late 30s so they aren't going to retire soon)
3-GYN's (don't need an OB): I see my Ob/Gyn at Magee so no help but I know a lot of folks like the Womancare Associates in Wexford (they deliver at Magee if you ever are considering that into the decision) and David Badway and his group of Greater Pittsburgh Ob/Gyn in Seven Fields (they deliver at Mercy)
4-Dentists: North Pointe Dental on Rt 228 in the Heritage Creek plan (it's going to be renamed to Refresh Dental). We really like them and our daughter goes there too. Everyone has been great!
5-Gyms: can't help you there. I'm a home workout (Insanity, Chalean Extreme, etc) person but I know a few people go to Fitness Factory since it's close, a lot go to Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford and a few go to Cranberry YMCA.
I know a great house for sale in the Heritage Creek plan if you're ever interested
Thank you for the suggestions!
4EvR--where is Heritage Creek? We have been driving around looking at neighborhoods but won't be ready to buy until I find a job.
It's off Route 228 just past Giant Eagle in Seven Fields (next plan on left). Feel free to email me: kristininpa at gmail dot com if you have any questions about the area, plan options (I'd take you to drive around to see them as we've looked at just about every one), daycare's, babysitters, doctors, etc. If you're looking to rent at all, that same house that's for sale in Heritage Creek could also be available for rent or rent to own.
Likewise, if you want a play date, let me know! Are you doing anything for Thanksgiving? Can I invite you to my house on Thursday (our daughters are close in age and could play) as I'd hate for you to eat at a hotel or restaurant?? (our big Tgiving isn't until Friday with our family so it would be no imposition at all). We just watch the parade and cook a small turkey on Thanksgiving (and plan out Black Friday shopping)
1-Pediatricians We use Children's Community Pediatrics in Wexford...we primarily see Stewart or Rowland, but they have all been nice when we've had to see other docs for sick visits.
2-Primary care docs I have seen Dr. Michele Mlakar at Northern Medical Associates (Wexford) a few times, she's very nice: http://findadoc.upmc.com/PracticeView.aspx?PP=Prac&N=Northern+Medical+Associates-UPMC
3-GYN's (don't need an OB): mine is in Oakland, can't help you there.
4-Dentists this is probably further than you are looking for, but my husband and son go to Dr. Herock in Ross Township.
5-Gyms
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
Good luck with the move and welcome to Pittsburgh!
We're a little more south than Cranberry, but we use Pediatric Alliance Northland Division and I know they have a Cranberry office with the same doctors. We've loved all of the doctors so far and I'd definitely recommend them.

Thank you so much for the invitation! I have one friend in Pittsburgh that I know from Atlanta and she has invited us. She doesn't have kids and lives in another part of the city so she hasn't been able to help with a lot of the local/kid stuff but it is so nice to have a familiar face. I will send you an email about the house.
Thank you to everyone for your responses, they have been very helpful.
