Re: meaningful monday - thanksgiving - 11/19/12

  • I am thankful for having a great family to spend the holidays with. It hasn't always been easy and we have lost a lot of close family in the past two years-- so i know that the holidays are often difficult.. .but its nice to know that my family has grown closer in the past two years because of this.

I am also thankful that we finally heard back on our short sale!!!!! An appraisal has been ordered from the seller's bank. I am sure it won't get done this week or even next, but that means we are one step closer. Dec 4th is our contract end date, so we can extend for 30 days and maybe have an answer!

  • I am grateful for a good weekend as a family. DH and I were able to have some discussions on our future, and start working together to get to where we want/hope to be.

Hearing my youngest start to sing along to songs, and sing her own, makes me so happy! As does the love that both of my kids have for music. kid music, pop music, all of it!

  • I am thankful for my 87 year old grandmother, who will be hosting Thanksgiving again.

I am thankful for the fact that DS is an amazing little boy. I've been so worried about his transitions coming up in the next few months - moving into a new bedroom, using a toddler bed instead of a crib, gaining a sibling... he slept in his new room in a toddler bed for the first time last night. And he did great. He did wake up a couple times, but he's been doing that in his crib and he didn't get out of bed when he did wake up, just whimpered until I or DH showed up. (and I know he knows how to get in and out of bed - he was climbing all over that thing when we played in there during the day!) I think he's going to adjust to being a big brother just fine, too.

Jen - hope you get good news about the short sale in the next few weeks!

Michele - hope all your future plans come true, and quickly :)

  • Oh, one more - I am thankful for pedicures :) I can no longer reach my toes and breathe at the same time, so I splurged for the first time since June. It was wonderful.

this. i have a chipped bone in my right foot that will never heal and I've dealt with it for about 5 years. It is really painful sometimes, mostly sore. I found that splurging for a pedi here and there actaully really helps... my dh will rub my sore foot from time to time but i think its the whole soaking, rubbing, hot stone thing that helps it :)

  • Today, I am thankful that my daughter was feeling well enough to go to school. 3 1/2 days of fever and general ick was more than enough!

I am thankful that nobody else in my house got sick.

I am thankful to have my husband home this week. He was able to join us for DS' music class today, and will be able to come and watch the kids' gymnastics classes tomorrow for the first time.

I am grateful that we are able to afford the two vehicle servicing appointments this week (30K and 120K miles). Figures they'd both need a big one at the same time.

I am so very grateful for wonderful family, especially my mom and sister. They really are my rock, and I'm so glad that my children have them in their lives. So very lucky to be able to spend Thanksgiving with them this week!

I am thankful for the friends I have met throughout my life -- from school, work, and online! There are friends I have met on The Knot and The Nest, who have become my dearest of friends, and so much more -- like sisters! We may not see each other every day, but I cherish each one of them, and my life is so much better for having them in it.
