Did you save the hair from your kid's first haircut?

J has reached mullet status so we need to get it cut.

I feel like I should take it with me but what am I going to do with it?  I don't have those keepsake boxes and I can't see myself going out and buying them just to save some hair that when he's older, he'll probably think is totally weird that I kept.

  • I have it in a little baggie in one of my drawers. I don't have a keepsake box either, but like you I couldn't bear to just toss it.

  • My mom has mine taped into my baby book.

  • I did not want it buy my hairdresser gave it to me. It's in an envelope somewhere in our trunk.
  • I have an envelope with it and I'll put it in her baby book.  My mom didn't keep mine and I don't care.

  • I saved his curls.  I couldn't bear to let them go :(

I recently grabbed a rectangular box from Michaels for 5.99.  It's just plain blue and green, nothing girly, and I was able to fit his baby book, birth announcement, various cards he received his first year and the banner from his first birthday party.  As you can see, I have a hard time letting go of things.  The hair went in that box as well.

The box is probably 12x14 and maybe 2 1/2 inches deep so I liked it because it wasn't one of those huge decorative boxes that I usually see at the home stores.

Did you put Tommy's conception cloth in there as well?

  • No.  I have plenty of pictures to remember what his hair looked like.

    This.

Except to bring it to an even bigger weirdo status, I ran out of room in the box I keep Aisling's stuff in so until I go get a bigger box or a second one, I have it hanging on my fridge so I don't lose it.

  • Nope.  And I forgot the camera too.  So, the receptionist at my salon took pics on her phone and texted them to me.  Ahhhhh yes, sentimental mother of the year over here.

DH was kind of sad I didn't keep it but then I reminded him that I would have just thrown it out at some point anyway....
