KEY WEST / MIAMI, help a sista out :)

Well I did ask for recs a couple months ago, but now I can't find the posts, ugh!

Whatcha got for Key West? We're there for 1 week, from this Sunday coming up until the next. Then to South Beach for 3 days. WOOT!!  We'll be staying at the Hyatt Beach House in KW, and the Ritz in SoBe.  So we're interested in restaurants, bars, shopping, activities, you know...everything fun and good, lol!

I've been to South Beach/Miami before but maybe there's some new stuff to check out...?

Thanks girls! Smile

  • I lived in Key West a few years ago. Its a super fun place to visit!

You HAVE to go snorkeling on the reef! I personally am a fan of catamarans (sailboats with two hulls) I would recommend The Fury or The Sebago. You can find them at 0 Duval.

My favorite restaurants are Hot Tin Roof ( a nicer place with Latin/Caribbean food ) Conch Republic Seafood ( a more touristy place but really good food, Caribbean food. My FAV is the conch fitters with key lime mustard, I MISS THEM) Five Brothers coffee (  a locals fav a cuban delicatessen)  and my VERY VERY FAVORITE <3 Camille's <3 ( Best brunch EVER, very offbeat and eccentric, very key west!)

Here are some "must sees": Sunset celebration at Mallory Square and be sure to watch the One Man Cat Show for amazing feline feats! Ernest Hemingway's House for Hemingway! Southernmost Point in the United States- kinda touristy, but you just have to get a picture! The Lighthouse!  The Green Parrot just to see the oldest bar in the Keys and its amazing jukebox! Take the ferry, or fly if you can afford it, and spend the day in the Dry Tortugas National Park! Fausto's Gourmet Market, even just to look at the selections... this is just to name a few!  Be sure to visit the Audubon House and enjoy the beautiful gardens.  Take a tour of this house and take in the history.  Do not miss the Butterfly Conservatory, it is beautiful.  The Aquarium, although small, is also fun.

  • The post above has everything that I would recommend for you, but I really wanted to say how much we loved Dry Tortugas!  It was really something else.  Also, if you are into a little bit weird stuff, there is a place on the Overseas Highway where you can stop and feed tarpon by hand.  It's pretty amazing to see these huge fish jump up and take a fish from your hand.  The place is Robbie's Marina.  I think it is around the 77 mile marker.
