So since SIL and I haven't talked in a year I am having problems deciding what to get her for Christmas. I don't really want to get her a gift card since she is my SIL. I had the idea of doing a personalized item but still not sure what to get.
So what gifts did you get your bridesmaids that could be used to general gifts and not just for a wedding? And where did you get them from?
Or do you have any ideas of something I could get her.
Re: Gift Issues
Some ideas:
-a Coach wristlet (or any wristlet... I got my BMs ones from Coach)
-a simple bracelet or necklace (I got my BMs a bracelet with lavender Swarvoski crystals)
-A Pandora bead (if she has a bracelet)
-A Scarf
-Mittens/Gloves
ETA: My friend once gave me a pretty jewelry box with my name engraved on it (it was from 'Things Remembered')
I bought my bridesmaids (and our groomsmen) hand painted glasses (wine glasses for the gals and pint glasses for the guys) and a correlating bottle of booze. Here's where I got them from: http://www.etsy.com/shop/FizzyArtist?ref=seller_info She has a lot of other stuff now like coffee mugs, glass jars, etc.
Etsy has a lot of other personalized items. Maybe a piece of jewelry? Something with your neice's birthstone or name perhaps? (Just throwing ideas out there)
I also have to say that if it's to a place I'll use it, I love getting gift cards!
Here, here! I'm with you....
I also think the personalized jewlery with your nieces birthstone or date of birth or name engraved on it is a great idea. This is what I did for my sister last year and she wears it all the time. I found it on etsy. If she's a momma, she will love it too!
I gave my BMs Coach wristlets, a bottle of their favorite wine, and a earring/braclet pearl/Swarovski crystal set my mom made for each of them to wear in the wedding.
Could you ask your brother for ideas? When in doubt, I always go for something edible - a bottle of wine/liquor, nice chocolates, etc.
I think scarves, bath things, candles, or a piece of jewelry are always safe routes for a woman.
Also, I agree with PPs, even though people think they're impersonal, I love getting gift cards.
