After roughly 32 hours of labor, my niece arrived via c-section this morning at 4:02. She's 8 lbs 9 oz and 22 inches. And she's doing great! My sister and BIL aren't very happy with how their plan went completely out the window, but they're thrilled she's finally out.
I was at the hospital pretty much all day and got lots of quality baby holding time. Here she is in my arms:

I'm in love!
Re: Gwendolyn Eliza
They had opted to go to a birthing center instead of a hospital and they were going to do a water birth. They banked on being able to go home 6 hours after she was born. Instead, my sister had to be admitted to Christiana and they can't go home until Monday because she had the c-section.
Apparently a total of 5 families went to the center yesterday and NONE of them were able to deliver there. They all had to go to the hospital because of various complications. My niece, for example, wasn't turned all the way and was smashing her face futilely against my sister's pelvis for hours. And because of that, her cervix stalled at 5 cm and the labor couldn't progress. When G was finally delivered, half of her face was all smooshed. Poor baby! It's all better now, though!
I actually guessed it! Well, the first name. I knew it wouldn't be something biblical or trendy and they had told us it was 3 syllables. I figured it would be sort of medieval sounding and the first thing that popped in my head was Guinevere, but that seemed a little too out there for them. Then my mind went to Gwendolyn!
We (me, my mom, and my sister's SIL) discussed it yesterday, so I have witnesses.
Your poor SIL- but I know she already thinks it was worth every agonizing moment.
Congrats Aunt Janet- she's beautiful (and I love her name!)
ahh I'm soo excited for you. isn't being an aunt awesome?!
Are they going to call her Gwendolyn or Gwen?
The Rowdy Roberts
boo...nobody likes to be called by their real names! everyone loves a good nickname
The Rowdy Roberts
Maybe Gwen will give Janet a nickname like my neice and nephew gave me mine!
