First Holiday Party!

So, the husband wants to throw an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in a couple of weeks.  I'm a terrible cook, and I need some ideas for super simple appetizer/hors d'oeuvres and the like.  Any tips?

Re: First Holiday Party!

  • Costco usually has some easy frozen appetizers that are quite yummy. Aldi also usually has some around this time of year that are usually pretty cheap. Have fun!
  • Ditto pp - check out the freezer case!  Mini quiche, veggie tray, cheese and crackers, bakery cookies, mini eclairs. All set :) Entertaining doesn't have to be a ton of work - have fun!
  • Pinterest also has TONS of appy type holiday recipes
  • These BLT Roll Ups are super easy - the only thing you're actually cooking is the bacon, and you can do that and assemble them in advance:

I love these sausage balls, and serve them with ranch and marinara sauce.  I roll them into balls the night before and leave them in the fridge overnight.  I take them out about 30 minutes before I plan on baking them to take off the chiil.  They are good hot from the oven, as well as when they start to cool down.

These Frech Dip Crescents are also pretty easy to throw together.  Any super market that roasts their own roast beef will see you their au jus as well, and you can't fail with Pillsbury crescents.  If you really prefer not to use the oven, just throw the roast beef & au jus in the crock pot to keep warm, and serve with rolls and cheese on the side.

Cheese and crackers, with some soppresata or pepperoni is also pretty simple.  At a minimum, I'd have 2 types of cheese and a meat.

And everyone loves a veggie tray.  I mix a packet of Lipton's french onion mix with a container of sour cream, and serve the dip in a hollowed out pepper.  It looks a little more festive.
