How's everyone doing with Christmas shopping?

I know it's not quite December yet, but how's it going for everyone?  Do you have most of your stuff purchased?  Do you know what you're going to buy?

I have to stop and pick up one thing at TRU on my way home today (thank you for an awesome sale on an item that's at the top of Jake's list, TRU!), then I will be completely done with both kiddos, aside from a few stocking stuffers.  I also buy for my BFF's 2 kids, and they are both done.  Brian & I aren't exchanging gifts, so I don't have to worry about him.

Aside from that, I'd say I'm about 50% done with everything else.  I need some other stuff for our parents, siblings, 2 gift exchanges that I'm taking part in, and my angel child that my office is collecting for.  I have ideas for most of these, I just need to head out and get them all purchased.

Re: How's everyone doing with Christmas shopping?

  • I got something for my sister, and a couple things for EJ. I am considering a "house" gift for kev that won't be exciting but something we need. And I have an idea for my dad but not my mom. so as far as percent completed I would guess  20%?  30%?
  • I have everythign fo rthe kids ordered...now I'm just waiting for the rest of it to arrive. I have my nephew done. I still need to buy for my nieces--which requires a trip to the mall (holister and justice). My parents are done, my brother is done; my grandparents are done. I need to by for my FSIL and my SIL and DH. I may make DH get his own presents and I'll wrap them for under the tree. I make no effort to buy for DH's brother anymore because he never seems excited or even thankful for anything we get him. We will still get him a gift--I just make DH do it. Daycare teacher gifts are half done. I just need to pick up a few more polishes and make the final decision on the other 2 teachers.

  • I'm almost totally done with the kids...just some stocking stuffers left...and I'm hoping to win something big on ebay in a few days. :) I've got a list for everyone else and I'm about 50% done. I'd say I'm doing good since in years past Christmas shopping has been done the weekend before Christmas. :) Oh, but wait...teacher gift, huh? Yea,I guess I should do that. I'm all new to this teacher thing. :)
  • Hmmm...maybe 25% done? I have almost everything for dd. But I have a few crafty things to do for her. I'm making her a Doc mcstuffins Big book of boo boos but that won't be too hard. The big gift from us this year is finally putting up her big girl bed which we still need to buy the mattress. Before that I wanted to repaint so I'm doing that tonight. And then we will set everything up for Christmas morning (need to make some crafty decorations). I swear everything has been difficult or hard to find for her this year though!!

DH I think I'm doing a date basket (thanks to somebody who mentioned that on another thread) so I need to work on getting that all together.

I have my parents and brother's gifts ordered and they are hard to shop for so that's good. I have a bunch of other little gifts but I think I'm giving Sarris for a lot so I'm going to be placing a big order soon!

  • For someone who is usually a last minute shopper, I am almost all done.  The kids are basically done, minus stocking stuffers and a few small things.  Kid's gifts to the grandparents and aunts/uncles are ordered.  I just have to buy two grab bag gifts, and gift cards for the boy's teachers. Rich hasn't sent me his list yet, but we are getting a treadmill, so I won't have to buy much for him.

And, my Christmas cards are in, so this weekend I just have to address, stamp, then mail them!

  • Ooh--stocking stuffers. I knew I was forgetting something.

  • Walt and I took off the Tues before Thanksgiving and shopped for the boys.  So they are done except for a few stocking stuffers.   We're getting a new tv so Walt and I aren't exchanging gifts, so that's easy.  For other family, I'm about 30% done. I have to get something for my co-workers and something for a gift exchange, too. I'm taking next Tuesday off for a shopping day so I hope to tackle a lot of that then.I did that last year and going by myself I got so much accomplished because I didn't have to worry about anyone else's list.
  • Ok this was the push I needed. I'm now mostly done...haha! Just placed my huge Sarris order and saw some stuff in sale on Bath and Body Works and ordered stuff there to finish up with 6 people. Woohoo!

  • I'm doing pretty good this year! Claire - done. DH - Done. Dad - we send him Cheryl's cookies to enjoy - they'll be delivered tomorrow. IL's - we're doing gift cards, so I just need to swing by GE and snag those. Other than that, I just need to figure out what I'm getting my boss, get something for a gift exchange I'm in and buy donuts for daycare and I'm DONE!
  • I almost forgot, I need something for Liam's 2 teachers!!  For the preschool room, everyone pitches in money and they buy a nice lunch for all of the teachers and assistants in that room, plus the director, receptionist, etc....so I don't have to worry about that. But I will need something for Liam's teachers...I'll probably play it safe & go with gift cards.

  • most of the kids are done. I bought teacher gifts a few months back but I have to get up in the attic tomorrow to get them down + decorations. No idea on my husband + our secret Santa. I think everyone is getting canvas prints this year so I have to get moving on selecting pictures etc... I would say 33%. But I only have until the 19th since I'm having knee surgery so I have to get moving!!

  • I didn?t really start thinking about Christmas until Thanksgiving was over, so I?m in decent shape when you consider that. I also have last year?s spreadsheet of presents, so I?m not worried about forgetting anyone. ;-)

We?ve gotten our family pictures taken. Christmas card is designed and ordered. Next is picking the 5x7 and 8x10 pictures we?re going to give to family and getting those printed. I want to order them this weekend since I don?t have a local place to go this year.  (So sad that Ritz is closed! *sniff, sniff*) That is our primary gift to most family members, so that?s easy. I need to make sure I have enough cardboard envelopes to wrap them in.

I have a list of what we?re getting the kids, but I still need to shop for and/or order the actual items. I?m hoping to go to Learning Express on Sunday to see if they have anything on the list in their store. If not, online shopping it is! The tricky thing will be figuring out when we can have Todd?s mattress delivered when he isn?t home. I have gotten the kids Xmas Eve pjs and a few stocking stuffers. And I took the kids to make presents for daddy and the grandparents at Color Me Mine, so those just need to be wrapped.

I?ll probably just do gift cards for the niece and cousins. DH and I sort of picked out our own big gifts for each other, so I just need to find something small for him to open. I also want to get a new tree skirt and a few new family ornaments for 2012. And I?m still debating teacher gifts for this year. We usually just do a monetary gift for the daycare teachers, but I definitely want to get something for Heather?s K teacher.

Oh, and there are a couple of friend?s kids that I want to get something small. But I plan to do that at Learning Express this weekend.

Mostly, I need to start wrapping NOW so I don?t find myself up until the wee hours wrapping presents the night before we leave for Ohio?

  • my shopping is not coming along well at all. i got 1 gift for my DH and my son is pretty much done but i still need to get for:

2 grandmas, a great uncle, 2 sister in laws/brother in laws, a brother, 2 sets of parents, more things for my DH and something for my boss. ugh. if anyone has any suggestions i am open to it!

  • I am done with my kids. I have one more thing to buy for two of my nephews and I'll be done with them. I'm also done with my BF's daughter. I am not buying for DH or my siblings, just my parents. I have a few little things for them, but I'm stuck beyond that. And we always struggle with DH's parents too. I got stuff for Lanna's classmates, but have to pick up gift cards for her teachers. And if we do an exchange with DH's cousins we'll have to buy for that. And I have one more gift to get for his cousin's daughter. Dang. I have more left to do than I realized!
  • As of today I have gifts for my mother, sister, MIL, and the big gifts for our boys. DH doesn't want me to get him anything and I think that for a change that is exactly what he will get. Usually I make an effort to get him something anyway but I am completly clueless. He has already picked up all the video games he has been wanting...well except Halo but he has 4 that he hasn't started playing so why add to the list. So all I have left are some stocking stuffers for the kids and maybe some clothes and new shoes for them. Maybe my DH has been so stubborn about a gift this year because I haven't given any hints as to what I want. LOL

  • Well, Santa is done (outside of wrapping). DH and I are not exchanging (he already got a weekend away and we just bought a new kitchen table), so that's done!

I still need ideas from my parents and DH needs to come up with an idea for his Dad. But his two sisters (Godparents to the boys) are done.

As for my brother's family, we agreed to do a family gift this year. SIL gave me one idea, but I'm not spending all of the money on the one place - I'm hoping she comes back with wanting a membership to somewhere so I can get that done.

    I'm getting there!

  • I'm like 75% finished I have like 3 gift cards to pick up along with 2 bottles of wine and a white elephant gift yet.  I need to start wrapping though.  I have to drop the gifts that are getting shipping to my nephews in MT off to my mom on Saturday which means I really need to get my butt in gear wrapping.
