Online fitness/weight tracker

Do any of you use one of these?  Rec's?

Thanks.

Re: Online fitness/weight tracker

  • MyFitnessPal is good, I have used it off and on for the past month or so. Best for food tracking though over fitness but you can account for activities you have done and calories burned. it has a big database of food items.
  • I've heard great things about SparkPeople.com.
  • Another vote for my fitness pal - I really like using it!
  • Another MyFitness Pal user!  It is super user friendly - both online and the app.
  • I am currently using the Livestrong app. I used My Fitness Pal for a time a few years ago. I just went back to look at MFP to compare, after using Livestrong for 4 months and they look really similar.

I honestly don't use it to track carbs or fat or anything and I never log onto the website. For me the important thing is to have an easy way to track my calorie intake so I don't eat mindlessly, and the Livestrong app has worked perfectly for that.

I've lost 10 pounds since August. It has been a slow but steady loss and I'm eating in a way that I can maintain for a long time. The first 2 weeks I lost 4 pounds...which was awesome. But then I calculated that I would have to keep eating in that restricted way until April to get to my goal weight and I knew there was no way I could keep it up. Losing 3/4 to 1 lb a week for me is much more realistic over the long haul.

Partial credit to the app and partial credit that DH started doing it first, so he has been encouraging and supportive of the process.  He has a major sweet tooth, so it is a lot easier for me to resist dessert when he does, too. :-)

  • I like My Fitness Pal app, too. You can scan the bar code on any food product to add it to your food diary - genius!!
