S/O Teacher Gifts

This is my first year for DD's teacher gift. There are two teachers and I am not sure what gifts to get. I am even second guessing my gift card choices? What would they like best?

Re: S/O Teacher Gifts

  • I think gift cards are a fine idea.  More practical than hand soap or a candle. :o) As I mentioned before I tend to go with cash and like a bag of homemade caramel corn or another treat.
  • I agree with Amanda - gift cards are MUCH appreciated to hand soap, candles and #1 teacher anything (I was a teacher for a couple of years and still have #1 teacher stuff I don't know what to do with). I'm sending in Dunkin Donuts and orange juice/iced coffee for DD's teachers. Since there are a lot of teachers that work with her, I like doing a group gift.
  • I always go pretty safe, as I never really know them well enough to get it from a very specific place.  So I've done Starbucks (if I've seen them drinking it there, I know some people hate starbucks), Panera (because I figure between breakfast & lunch, everyone could find something there to eat, or just get coffee), Target.

  • my mom was a teacher for 30 years and every Christmas she threw away or gave away so much junk - candles, dish towels, mugs, magnets, etc.  Gift cards are always #1 in my book.

on a related note, my BFF is a teacher at a private school in Princeton and received a Tiffany's bracelet as a Christmas gift...

  • I do Giant Eagle, Amazon or Target gift cards for Christmas for the 2 main teachers for each girl.  I also do pizza and soda for lunch for everyone to get all of the helpers.  I hate when people bring in mugs, picture frames, candles, etc...my mom was a teacher for 35 years and there's only so many of those knick knacks teachers can keep.  You can never go wrong with gift cards!
