Favorite Non AI Caribean Vacation Spot?

DH & I have had a lot of on the go/very busy vacations lately so we're thinking our next one will be mostly hanging out on the beach relaxing & maybe some exploring a little too. We are thinking maybe Turks & Caicos or St Lucia but we're open to any other suggestions. What is your favorite caribean vacation spot & why? Also, any suggestions on the town & place to stay? Thank you so much.

curacao! dh and i stayed at the sea aquarium resort (our mexican timeshare's sister resort) and love it. of the 15or so caribbean islands.countries it's one of my faves. outstanding snorkeling, really easy to rent a car and drive around the island to beaches etc...has a great island personality, nice restaurants, nice town. just all around a great time.

I've been to St. Thomas, St. John, Torotola, Virgin Gorda, Jamaica, Aruba, St. Maarten, Anguilla, and the Riviera Maya (non-AI). My favorite is probably St. John. We stayed at the Westin there. St. John is laid back and has gorgeous beaches but Cruz Bay (not too far from the Westin) is a great place to walk around, grab a bite to eat, and do some shopping. You can head to a different beach there every day and still not hit all of them. Just be sure to visit Trunk Bay when there is not a cruise ship in Port. I also recommend taking a boat charter to the BVIs to explore Virgin Gorda and the other BVIs. I really liked Anguilla as well. AMAZING beaches and definitely a foodie destination. Cap Juluca or the Viceroy are good options, though pricey. Anguilla, in general, will be the higher end and more expensive destination. I really did not like Jamaica or Aruba that much, though Aruba definitely had more to see and explore, at least in opinion based on what I like to do. I did some shopping, ate at a bunch of different restaurants, and did some activities. I just do not like the beaches there that much. We also really like the Riviera Maya. We stayed at the Le Meridien Cancun, which is no longer there, but it was right next to the Ritz Carlton, which was gorgeous and had an amazing stretch of beach. Also, looking into the Banyan Tree, Maroma Resort (not Secrets or El Dorado), the Fairmont, or Viceroy. Those are all higher end and higher budget. The few times we have been back there, though, we have opted for All Inclusives. We're also heading to Peurto Rico in April and staying at the new St. Regis Bahia. I am looking to do a whole lot of nothing and thought the Bahia would be a good way to do that in style

As for your first choices, I was once booked to go to St. Lucia, but got bumped by a group at the last minute. The fact that the resort did that to me really angered me and I have never considered going back there again. Plus, it's hard to get there from Phoenix. My mom has traveled to Turks a few times and loves it there. She raves about the beaches and the relaxing atmosphere. So, that is certainly on my list of places to visit!

I absolutely love St Kitts. It's beautiful and the people have always been so good to us. We stay at the Marriott. The beach isn't very big there, but the pool area is amazing.

The last time we were there, we hired a cab driver for the day. He toured us around the entire island. We stopped at all of his favorite spots for snacks through out the day. We even played soccer and flew kites with some little kids. It was honestly one of my best vacation days ever. I highly recommend hiring a driver and getting to know the island.

Negril!! It's my favorite do-nothing sort of vacation!

As far as a place to stay, we love Country Country in Negril. A great breakfast is included and it's right in the middle of all of the bars/restaurants on 7 Mile Beach.
