What are you reading?

What did you read in November, how did you like it and what are you planning to read next?

Re: What are you reading?

  • I read absolutely nothing in November. I started Gone Girl but couldn't get through it because I kept getting distracted. I've since downloaded some cheesy Nora Roberts romance books because they are brainless to follow but a nice distraction. Also, they are a major guilty pleasure of mine.
  • I too read nothing in November. I have a bunch of books sitting on my Kindle, but I sometimes go in spurts where I just don't feel like reading. This obviously is one of those times.

  • I am finishing #6 of the Outlander series - A Breath of Snow and Ashes.  Haven't been reading as much since I've decreased my pumping sessions at work.  I'll be moving onto the 7th book once I'm done.

  • In November I discovered the joy of listening to audiobooks while cleaning and it has really helped on the amount of cleaning I get done!

    Books I read in November:

    Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter ***

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without me? *

The True Story of Hansel and Gretel ****

    The Compound ***

The House on Mango Street ****

    Audiobooks I listened to:

    A Long Way Gone ****

    War Horse ****

    Oryx and Crake ****

    Bossypants ****

How Did You Get This Number ****

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer?s Stone (a "reread") ****

Over the weekend I also finished reading Sultry with a Twist, a book written by of the the nesties on the Nest Book Club board. It's a romance with A LOT of sex scenes.

Up on deck for the kindle I have To the Lighthouse, The Casual Vacancy, Ready Player One, The Age of Miracles, and Dark Lover. For audiobooks I have The Objects of my Affections and Caleb's Crossing.

  • NQ, you are such an overachiever!  haha, I wish I could read as much as you.  I tried audiobooks and I totally zone out.  I cannot multitask with them.

I am reading "The Fault in Our Stars" John Green.  It's a YA book and I'm really enjoying it.  Coming of age combined with cancer patients...not as depressing as that may sound.  It's about a teen girl who meets a guy at a cancer support group who completely changes her life.

  • I just finished the "Invisible Bridge" by Julie Orringer for my book club. A bit depressing, but overall really, really good. It was about 600 pages, but moves very fast. I just downloaded "Then Came You" by Jennifer Wiener. I enjoy her books, but haven't gotten around to reading the last couple.

I can't wait to read TFiOS but I'm 5th on the waiting list at the library so I probably won't get it until January.

I'm not an overachiever, I just had a lot of free time in November with H's medical issues. We haven't been very social while he recovers and, without cable, we've both just been reading when we normally would have been watching TV. As for the audiobooks, I can only focus on them while cleaning. Anything that requires any sort of thought process and I zone out. However, laundry, dusting, scrubbing, sweeping and vacuuming can all be managed on autopilot and the books really help to pass the time.

Yeah, I picked this up today. I hope the rest of the deals are this good. I'm like #300 for this at the library, so well worth the 2.99. I just finished Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I loved it. I just loaded Divergent by Veronica Roth to my Kindle, so I tihnk that's next. I didn't really want to get sucked into another series, but I've heard good things.

Haha, that sounds like a good one to listen to while cleaning. I'll have to see if it's on overdrive.
