I made the mistake...

...of looking at the calendar. And realizing I only have 3 more weekend days at home before Christmas!

<cue panic attack>

I'm also behind on laundry, haven't done the christmas card labels yet (the cards are being delivered today) and only got half of the christmas decorating done yesterday. Oh, and I didn't go to the store this weekend, so it will be a play-it-by-ear week of dinners.

Please tell me I'm not alone...

Re: I made the mistake...

  • you are not alone - and I'm having knee surgery on the 19th so all of my shopping really needs to be done by then. AND.... I am out of town this weekend leaving on Friday.... GAAAHHHH!! No Christmas cards yet - haven't even picked the pictures & I have a bunch of calendars to make for the inlaws which I'm sure need to be ordered by next week. I have no wrapping paper or stickers. Some decorations are up but the house is a disaster with all the boxes (and it was so clean on Friday!) Oh well - hoping it all comes together and if not it will be fine anyway!

  • You sound like you're ahead of me, if it makes you feel any better!!  I have my house decorated, but no tree yet (that will be this weekend).  I did laundry, but none of it is put away (which I find to be the worst part of the whole process) And...I haven't even designed a Christmas card yet.  Yikes!!!  I'm going away for work Wed-Sat of this week, so I really need to get on the ball before I go and then have a plan of attack for Sunday!

  • You're not alone. I'm freaking out!!! This weekend was madness. I decided to paint dd's room because we are getting her a big girl bed for Christmas and wanted the room painted beforehand. So that added more to my to do list. I went out for 4 hours shopping with dd in tow yesterday and still not done. I did most of my shopping online but still have things to get in store. Oh had to finally do Christmas pics and cards this weekend but will need to send those out when we get them.

still have a couple crafts to do for dd's room and putting together dh's gift (date basket) Not to mention wrapping. Ugh!! And we have no ornaments on the tree yet! And we are hosting Christmas Eve so the weekend before will be tons of cleaning . For some reason I feel like this year is so much more busy and flying by!!!

And I didn't have time to do laundry yesterday either!!

  • You're definitely not alone.  I keep telling myself, it's only December 3! (This weekend, it was "But, it's only Dec 1!")   We have no decorations up.  ZERO.  (by my own doing...Dec 1 was way too early for me)  I have 3 cards saved and want to show them to Walt to choose - so those will be done soon.  I have some gifts, but I'm not done there either.  And a few I don't even have ideas for.  We get a live tree, so we don't get that until later in the month anyway.   And just remember...it's only December 3!  :)
  • Thanks, ladies! I'm so glad to know that it isn't just me!

I didn't really want to decorate this weekend, but DH had already done all of the inside and outside lights, and put up the big tree, so I was feeling pressure to get going. Now that all of the boxes are unpacked, I want to finish so the house can be less cluttered!

It doesn't help that I found renewed interest in working on a crochet project for a friend's baby. Right now I would rather be doing that with my free time than wrapping or printing address labels...

  • I'm decorated, but we're going on vacation for a week, really making me rush to try and get everything else wrapped. I still need to do more shopping and get it together for my cards I need to update my mailing list, etc. Then on top of that packing for vacation, I'm already stressed.

yeah I photographed our friend's wedding as a favor 2 months ago and I have been working on editing those and still have some left. I need/want to be working on those rather than wrapping! I've done close to 300 pics so far but still have probably 100 more to edit.  Too many commitments!!

  • Let's just just say that Christmas cards may not get sent this year. I am ok with that.

  • You know I didn't realize this until you mentioned. Ha. Now panic sets in. Kidding. I do have most of my shopping done. managed to get the christmas card pic done and ordered. :) I have my grocery list ready for Christmas day dinner. Need to make a list of who else needs bought. Need to make up calendars for MIL but need SIL to send some pics of niece. AAAHHHHH. I need to bake. I was hoping to start up a cookie exhcange with some folks and never organized! Oh well.
  • You aren't alone. though we decorated before Thanksgiving (thanks to 60* weather), and the shopping is done for the kids, I haven't shopped for anyone else yet, haven't taken the kids pics for the Christmas cards yet, haven't even begun to think about who I'll send cards to this year, and I'm scheduled to work like crazy from no until the holiday. Yay! :P
  • The bulk of my shopping is done; but have zero clue as to what to get my grandparents. I have my Christmas cards...but no plan to get them in the mail yet. I feel like I'm behind on everything else. I haven't even figured out where the Christmas decorations are. We haven't gotten our tree yet. I haven't gone thorugh any of the kid's toys for a pre-Christmas purge. Santa at the mall is probably not getting done again this year. I haven't started my baking, and have no idea what I'm going to make Christmas day.

  • I have most of the shopping for DD done and I'm done with my niece and nephew.  I have a few things for DH and our parents - but I still have more to buy for them as well as gifts for secret Santa exchanges/co-workers. Surprisingly enough, our Christmas tree is up. (though we have no outside lights up or other decorations.) That's the extent of my readiness.

We had professional pictures taken a couple of weeks ago for our card, but with our whole dog ordeal :( I just haven't been able to stop and pick up the disc of photos. So I haven't even ordered Christmas cards yet.

  • Amy-I wanted to thank you for posting this, because it motivated me to get some stuff done, haha!  We got our pics back from a session we had a few weeks ago yesterday afternoon, so I got to work on designing photo cards and calendars (which the grandparents get every year for Christmas) Thanks to promo codes that expired this week, I was even more motivated to get it done....order was placed this morning!  Phew!

    Yay!

It motivated me, too. After dinner, Todd helped me hang the stockings and decorate the mantle. After the kids were asleep, I went through my address list and emailed all of the people that I needed updates from. And I've received them all, so if I can find labels in my office, I can print them tonight. (Or at least I can print them as soon as I buy labels...)

And then I did some online shopping and got a bunch of the stuff for the kids. One phone call to order Todd's mattress plus a short trip to Target and the toy store, and they will be done. I could have ordered it all online, but I decided that I didn't want 2 mattress covers and 3 pillows delivered to my office in addition to the comforter... :-)

I still feel behind, and tired since I was up too late, but I am hoping that if I wear myself out this week, I can be more relaxed for the rest of the month. A girl can dream!
