Interior window washing

Hello! This question may be too basic, but how do you all wash your windows--what material do you use--for me paper towels leave "lint" and regular towels aren't absorbent enough.  I've done newspaper in the past, but even that seems streaky....

 Suggestions?  Thanks!

Re: Interior window washing

  • Sometimes it depends on what your cleaning agent is- and even how much you spray on. I usually do one spray per two and a half square feet of window and it cleans just fine using paper towels. And i like using the half warm water half vinegar formula but not every one in the house likes the smell so some times I just get a cleaning agent form the dollar store and use that. If you have kids, I don't yet, the half and half version might be safer.
  • When I worked at the deli and the bagel shop we used coffee filters. They worked really well, actually!

That sounds like a good idea!

  • Coffee filters?  Sounds like a good idea, I'll try it.

I love using vinegar for cleaning, so I'll try the 1/2 and 1/2 + coffee filters.

    Thanks Everyone!

  • We use microfiber cloths. I've got one specifically for glass that is microfiber on one side and chamois on the other. Honestly I rarely use the chamois side, so I probably would just buy plain microfiber cloths going forward.

  • I use paper towels but I clean the windows with ammonia and water. It never streaks. I tend to buy "cheaper" paper towels that are stifer and not as soft, because they don't have as much fluff. Like the kind you get in the bathroom of a public restroom...the brown ones.
