Bridal Shower Location

Hi all I'm sorry, I know this has been asked but my one SIL is throwing a shower for my other SIL. There are 5 girls in the party and they don't have a TON of money to throw around. They live in Willow Grove and are willing to go as far as maybe Peddlers Village? We're looking for a nice place that would maybe cost around $300 or so. Either a cheaper room rental and we'll bring in the food or something that has the food that is maybe a little more expensive. If that makes any sense. Thanks!!

  • That's a tough budget. $300 for 40 people works out to $7.50pp. They are going to have a hard time finding a restaurant at that price point. I guess having it at someone's house is out of the question. The Ambler Fire Company has a hall rental fee of $250 for daytime weekend hours. http://www.station7.org/home.php The Upper Gwynedd Fire Company is more pricey, at $450 on Saturdays and $350 on Sunday. They could try asking for a daytime discount. Fire halls are pretty lax about stuff like that. http://www.ugfd.org/custom.html?id=2936

  • We threw a bridal shower at someone's house and it cost over $200 per bridesmaid and there were for 4 of us. I was shocked at how much it cost, but one bridesmaid bought the world's most expensive cake (plus cupcakes) and cheese, the booze was expensive and the shower gift from the bridesmaids was expensive. I think there were maybe 30 attendees. I don't think spending that much is necessary though, but I think a $300 budget for that many people pretty much means having at someone's house.
  • I'm sorry I'm sort of scatter brained and should have been more clear: I think paying $200 for a room rental is reasonable but if its at a restaurant and food is included, then yeah, they know they'll be spending a lot more! No one has a house big enough. IL's have a yard big enough but it'll be in March. Plus with MIL's antics these days, we don't want to rely on their house.

  • Planning the bridal shower is probably my least favorite aspect of being a bridesmaid. They should be fun, but there's usually issues with money. It's so much easier when someone can host at a house, but not many houses can accomodate 40+ people. I feel your pain! I'm sure you guys will find somewhere to have it. I live in Delco, and hall rentals usually start around $300. For one bridal shower, where half of the bridesmaids were in college & unemployed and the guest list was nearly 60 people, we had it at the Springfield Inn on Baltimore Pike. Their breakfast option was like $7.00pp, and included coffee & juice. If people wanted mimosas/bloody marys, they had to buy them at the bar. It was probably kind of chintzy, but the guests seemed happy. Maybe they could try to find a place that would do a late breakfast>

  • Not sure if it is too far but PJ's actually is very reasonable for a party and they do a really nice job.
