ideas for a week photography trip - from San Diego ?

dh is going to SD for work in Feb - he has about a week that he'll take as vacaction - hopefully to do some sort of photography mini trip
any ideas on where he sholud go? I suppose he could fly if the price is right - or driving distance

I second the central California coast idea. Also, a drive slightly northeast of SD would take him to Joshua Tree National Park. And he could even continue to the parks in AZ as Jells mentioned. You can't go wrong in that area, imo. Just a question of what he likes to photograph.
SD, itself, is gorgeous. You've got beaches, Hotel Del, Point Loma, Balboa Park (zoo, museums, botanical building).
It really depends on what he's interested in. California is a wealth of natural beauty, and variety. But so much of that has been photographed before, so it might not be that exiting for him. I mean, Yosemite valley is spectacular, but there are a million photos of it...
What is he interested in? Culture? Nature? Weirdness? I'm know Southern and central California really well, so hopefully I can help!
