Gifts for your husbands

Did we discuss this already? I don't have one single idea for The Dude. Just curious what others are getting their husbands. I don't want to spend a lot because we're about to gut our kitchen but I feel like between the news about the boys and his mom being, well, herself..I'd like to get him something special. I thought maybe someone elses idea would spark an idea for me! Maybe?

Re: Gifts for your husbands

  • We do 100 limit:

New nalgene water bottle his last was stolen.

    New Swiss army knife

A pair of bike socks from new Belgium brew

A set of glassware were part of proceeds go to nonprofit from new Belgium brew

    New wallet from reload bags

Underwear for his stocking from old navy

  • DH and I are doing mostly stocking stuffers this year with a few larger items (plate tree for his weights, golf clothes).

So far - golf balls, golf glove, leather catch-all for his cuff links/watch/wedding ring/collar stays, some personalized collar stays from etsy for his dress shirts, whiskey stones

We also always exchange ornaments - so I am in the process of brainstorming

hmmm - does he wear cuff links?  I bought DH and pair of locket cuff links as a wedding gift...you could leave them empty and put a pic of Hans and Frans in each one after they are born...or shrink and ultrasound pic to add now

  • I haven't bought DH anything interesting...sweatpants, dress pants & hoodie from jcrew, aviator sunglasses (cheap ones from urban outfitters), casual belt, and I put together 2 "yearbooks" for our family (one for 2010 and 2011) using shutterfly. I'm going to try and do this every year. I want to do a "pre-2010" and a 2012 once this year is over.

  • Nothing special here but this is what he is getting although we weren't exchanging this year but you see how that went.... in all honesty he would be buying this stuff anyway since he needs it with the weight loss so whatevs. New northface jacket, two Lucky t-shirts, Nike overnight bag since his is falling apart, a Gap dress shirt, then I will probably get some golf balls, car wash gift certificates and he needs a new water bottle. So nothing too exciting here. How about a gift cert to enjoy a round of golf?

  • He gives me a list--well, it's more like an Amazon wishlist (which is helpful for bday and xmas).  I also take notes on my phone throughout the year. So far, he's getting lots of music and a few books, some running socks, a new robe, a bottle of cologne, a race bib holder. There are a few other things on the list that I still want to order.
  • My DH is like a big kid! His birthday is 12-23, so he wants a Transformers game for his PS3. Then for Christmas, he wants the new Call of Duty game , bedroom slippers and a bottle of cologne. We too have set a 100 limit this year with the kiddo on the way. He commented to me last night that since we've been together, he actually has a birthday to enjoy. So sad.

  • Oh and there's a new PS3 game coming out in March that DH wants...some violent/inappropriate type of game.

  • Thanks for some ideas! He does not wear cufflinks although that is such a cute idea. He wears gym shorts and t-shirts to work (lucky!) so he pretty much only dresses up for weddings and the occasional fancy event. He does keep buying really cheap sunglasses that break so maybe I can get him a semi decent pair!

Ummmm say what? Dude LOVES transformers. In fact everyone keeps asking him how he feels about sharing his transformers with his sons haha. Gonna go look this game up right now!

  • DH is building a new computer so that is pretty much our gift to each other, but I will be buying him some small things for his b-day (12/24) and Christmas

    Apples to Apples Game

    Cards Against Humanity

    A light for the grill

    A dustbuster

Pretty much things we need anyway...

  • If you're feeling ultra-crafty...meet MegaTRACY and OptJIMus Prime.  I am making BumbleBABY this year with a picture of Abby.

Haha- because I am clueless when it comes to this stuff, I have it on a sticky note on my desk. It reads Transformers Fall of Cybertron. I know he has another Transformers game at home too, so I think there are a few out there. DH has Transformers on his dresser. For real. He bugs me everytime I am at Target to check for certain ones. All I know are Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee. I told him those Transformers better go in a box soon. He too cannot wait to watch the cartoons and share his toys with our son. He always watches them on Hub.

He also wanted to do a Transformers nursery.  No thank you.

He also has a love of DC and Marvel comics.  I was in Ross last night and they had  a Spider-Man snow suit in 0-3 months for 9 bucks so I bought it.  He was very excited.

I wish I was crafty. Where did you find out how to do this?

  • Bedroom slippers, we exchange for them each year, it's kinda fun but TOTALLY dorky
a sleeve for his macbook air, he wanted a specific one, so I got that
A new Orioles cap since his old one doesn't fit when his hair is longer
new cufflinks - his old pair broke, and he doesn't need them often, but when he does, there is not other option.
A new wallet - I think I'm doing one of the duct tape ones

We set a $100 limit too and so far I am still a little under, so I need some more little things for his stocking.

  • Babe - I actually made them free-hand using card stock and glitter glue, then attached all the limbs and head with string.  I used a picture from Google images.

  • Gas gril and accessories for home. He loves to grill on the week ends at the shore, and I am hoping this gets him to cook at home during the week too. This may be wishful thinking on my part. I kind of feel like I should get him something else too.
  • every year we say we're setting a limit, but never stick to it. I got DH eagles floor mats for the car, a toiletry bag, underwear, a Phillies nutcracker, shoes, and colonge. I will also pick up the usual stocking stuffers, shaving cream, soap, deodorant.
  • I literally have no idea. He has such expensive taste and the only things I could imagine him getting even slightly excited about are expensive.

Given that I am currently home with the baby and haven't even been doing my hobby business for well over 6 months I would effectively be giving him an expensive gift paid for with his own money. It kind of sucks.

What he would enjoy is an iTunes gift card (which seems sooooo unexciting to me) and some work shirts, but he has to pick his own clothes. If I buy clothes for him they end up returned.

For an easy going guy he is super hard to buy gifts for, especially when trying to be careful about cash. : (

What about something sentimental from A for his desk at work? Some kind of frame with a pic of the 2 of them, or something like that? I did something for Dave like that E's first christmas and he melted. Or you know, the 60" tv that he really wants. ;-)
  • We have a $150 limit. We normally do $100 but I wanted to get him running gear and I wanted a new watch so $150 it is. I got him a bunch of nicer running gear. Two pairs of running shorts, a long sleeve zippered running pullover, fancy running socks, some wicking shirts. RoadID New headphones that are sweatproof I also got him a couple work shirts, a cute thing for his desk with a quote about being a great father...and I'm still trying to think of something else that is more fun.
  • We are getting a TV for the bedroom, because we are sentimental like that.

One year when I didn't know what to get him, I went to Capone's and told them my budget and that I wanted some cool beers. H got almost an entire case of different brews, wrapped individually, and then the box wrapped as well.  He loved it.

::cough:: ::cough:: I am sometimes fast and loose with the limit. I don't think I included the work shirts in the limit because he needs them anyway. If he doesn't get any clothes for christmas or his birthday, he gets no new clothes. He does not shop for himself. I also don't think I included the quote sign because I bought that back in August on vacation so uh...out of site...out of budget. ;-) I think I spent like $90 at Nike for the running gear, $20 for the Road ID, $35 for the headphones.

Yeah I'll probably go that route, but he's not the massively sentimental type. Still it's worth a try.

The TV he wants is 55" - don't you be giving him any bigger tv ideas!!  ; )
