Hi. :) And daycare recommendations...

Hi ladies. :) I'm resurfacing. lol

My crazy, anal retentive husband has asked that I do some research on daycare costs for our future (presently non-existant) child. As some of you know, we recently relocated from Edmond to the Yukon/Mustang area. Anyone have any daycare recommendations? Or any providers to completely avoid? I think he just wants to know what to expect in terms of cost.

Even though he's been avoiding the idea of TTC for a few years, I think we are *just* about there. My poor, sweet FIL cried (for maybe the 3rd time in recorded history) because he wants a grandkid so badly and I think that really struck a chord with DH. Sigh.

Anywho, hope you all have been doing well! Things have been kind of slow around here recently, huh?

Re: Hi. :) And daycare recommendations...

  • I totally thought you were going to have an announcement by your title!
  • Nice to see you! :)

I don't have any recs for that area, but I can tell you that it's $600/month for G (keep in mind that it's more expensive for newborns) and he goes to a curriculum-based center. I would recommend checking DHS's website--you can do a search and see a lot of information about each daycare/provider. There's another site that's helpful but I can't remember the name...rainbow fleet maybe?

Depending on how much info you want right now, you could call a few daycares and check their prices, as well as ask how long their wait-list is, what supplies they provide, if they require a deposit to secure a spot, if they require an enrollment fee, etc.

  • I think newborns are like 150-175/week at most facilities.  I'd look on the rainbow fleet web site and call around to a few of the higher rated ones.  A friend used God's Little Blessings in Yukon until her son went to school and really liked them.

  • I was coming in here to say congrats, based on your post title :)

I can't remember...will you all be returning to the Edmond area? Or are you west for good? A friend gave me a great resource for Edmond childcare, so let me know if you need that.

No I think we're going to be in Mustang for good. It cut my husbands commute from 1.5 hours to 30 minutes daily and he's loving it. Plus, no more Edmond traffic. ;) Thank you, though. How is your LO? Love that little gummy smile of his. ;)

  • No real recommendations for childcare but I know the owner of God's little Blessings and she seems very involved in the center.  She gave me a couple of contacts for babysitters and I plan to try them out after the first of the year.  :)
