So H and I went to my company's Holiday Gala this past weekend. It's my first since I'm new to the company. I feell very removed from the company because I work at an offsite of a subsidiary, so I have contact with one other person regularly- good thing we get along! Well, it was super fun, my coworker, me, and our Hs got together and did some light pregaming before hand (I didn't wanna spend much money at the cash bar). The food was great, no official meal though, just "heavy h'ors d'eourves."
Well they had this fun thing where you put your ticket into a drawing for one of many gift baskets of your choice. I didn't win the gift basket I wanted, which was a bummer, but I danced all night and had so much fun. At one point I told H that was ready to go and my coworker said "DON'T you DARE leave right now!!!" I was like "whoa, I guess we aren't leaving...." Well, apparently they did a grand door prize drawing that I didn't know about. Of ~500 employees (plus dates, 800 in total attendance) I WON A GRAND PRIZE! I won a 40" LED TV---- WHAAAAT???!! I didn't even know they did that and I was so confused when I was talking to someone at my table and then all of a sudden everyone at my table screamed and looked at me! So now I have an AWESOME new TV that we never would have been able to afford for our new apartment! First time I've ever won anything!
Re: My Company's Holiday Gala
Yay! That's so exciting!
800 people is a HUGE party!
We never do a real party, we alternate years of family-friendly events and adults-only. But our adults only seem to always be a trip to the comedy club in Feb as our busy season starts to wind down.
I'd love to go to a party like yours! Glad you and your coworker, and Hs had fun!
