I've only had a mani/pedi 3 times in my life... once when I was younger and a friend's mom took us, once for my prom, and then for my wedding.
Usually I just take care of my nails myself and save the money... although I do have to say I enjoyed having it done for me for my wedding, but I still can't bring myself to spend the money on it
manicures- never. I wash my hands a zillion times a day, so it's not worth spending the money.
pedicures- a few times a year, usually before vacation and for some reason I always feel the need to have one before my pap. I know it's absurd, but I always make sure my nails are painted and my legs are shaved and everything in that region is "fresh".

I've had a manicure twice, once before prom and the other before the wedding. I've never gotten a pedicure.
I abuse my hands, so having them professionally done will always be a waste of money for me. I way rather spend the money on nice OPI polishes to do my own nails at home.

I got one 2 weeks before the wedding...it was a gift from my BM (she was getting her's done for prom)...I loved it...but...I ended up just getting glue on ones from walmart for the wedding and they worked out beautifuly...stayed on till day before we left for the cruise...works for me lol....I just ended up painting my nails after that...I have SO much nail polish its crazy...and since I work with fish water eeryday...weekends are when I tend to redo them...otherwise its a waste...
So yeah...would LOVE to get it done every month..but alas...not worth it for me except as a treat lol

Not often, I used to get the gel manicures regularly (every 2 weeks) for about 3 months before the wedding so I would have nice nails at the wedding.
I'm super rough on my hands though so even the gel polish starts chipping off after about a week. After the wedding it ended up not being worth it to me, there are other things I'd rather spend $40 on.
ETA: oh yeah, the pedi! I used to go every other Friday (short day at work) with my gf, the place we went gave you free wine! But since I've moved I don't have anyone to go with regularly so I haven't been in a couple months
