You're smart, Meghan.

We had Todd's parent-teacher conference last night and we were talking through some of our recent behavior issues with his primary teacher. And she said that December and January are the two months of the year that they deal with the most behavior issues. In December because our schedules and activities are not as usual and predictable, and even because of the decorations and the house not looking the way it normally does. And then again in January, when we try to make our lives "normal" again.

I found that last night I had more patience with the bedtime routine because I have a better understanding of what is making our kids so frustrating right now!

  • I get that a lot!  Haha, just kidding. Wink  It is nice to know that there are reasons for certain behavior issues, instead of always worrying that I'm doing something wrong.  I'm glad Todd's teacher was able to validate that December is a tough time for a lot of kids....and we know to prepare ourselves for January!  Knowing this helps with my patience levels too.  Whether it's the holidays or even just mornings - I sometimes have to stop and remind myself that these are times when I am overwhelmed or irritable, so the kids probably are too.  It helps me empathize with their moods and not get so frustrated when they are not listening!
