Hi ladies! I need some advice.
My firm has offered to let me come back part-time after my maternity leave so that I can get a hold on balancing life as a new mother and working in a busy firm. They let me pick my own hours so I chose to work 3 days a week with the option of 4 or 5 days during especially busy weeks (trials, briefs, etc. etc.).
Now here's my question: If I work Tuesday through Thursday, money will be a little tight. But if I work Monday through Thursday, we will be about as comfortable as we are now with me working Monday through Friday. The difference in daycare cost is very minimal - $30 less a week for part time.
What would you do? Work three days a week and spend four days at home with your newborn - even though that makes money tight. Or work four days a week and have three days at home with the baby - and be comfortable financially.

This!
I'd at least start with working 3- That way you get to spend more time with the baby, and really get a feel for how tight money will be.

My mom told me before I was born she didn't see any way they'd be able to go down to one income, but she said after I came along they decided that's what would be best, and they found a way to make it work. She said that if it's that important to you, you'll make it work.
I would probably start out at 3 days a week and see how you feel.

Personally I'd try 3 first.
My logic is this- if you start with less time and then want more.... they will be like- she's awesome and wants to work more!
If you start working 4 and go down to 3 then it's a chance they might feel sad they won't have you around as much.
